I am thinking about buying a DXG 538C digital camera and I was wondering if it was a good one....?

It is 5.1mp, 2.4" color LCD screen, 4xs digital zoom, and records with sound...It is on sale this week at the store where I work for $99.99 and with my discount I can get it for $85...i think it'll be good but I was just wondering if other people have liked theirs.

dont go cheap. the cheap ones suck. go with a name brand, even if it cost $50 more. Kodak is an awesome brand and is fairly inexpensive. find a camera that has a digital AND optical zoom. you will have much better quality pictures.

Digicams with only digital zoom and low prices are usually lower quality. Digital zoom means no real zoom; they just appear to magnify the image by spreading out the pixels.

Even the 5.1 mp may be an exaggeration. Some of this class of camera uses a smaller sensor, then digitally inserts more "interpolated" (made up) pixels to make the total sound larger.

I recommend putting your $85 toward a name brand camera. There are lots available today for $150 (minus your discount).

DXG is not a brand I recommend. They are usually cute, but not quality. As I tell my customers, if you are looking to record memories of quality, this is not the camera to do it. It is more of a fun young teen type camera.

Save your money, buy a better one. Look for something that has an optical zoom. That way you don't distort your pictures when you are zooming.

We sell a LOT of the DXGs at work, they are better than nothing. But, I would not recommend it if you have another choice.

Quality pictures come at a price. Cheap camera...you get the picture. I suggest save up your money and look to buy a Canon brand digital camera. Well worth the money and recommended by photo professionals.
