My husband loves it on his steak. I put it on my steak and all you taste is the A1 so what is the point of using it?. You cant taste the steak. Might as well put it on a hot dog it would be a lot cheaper then the steak.

A good steak needs no more than salt (it helps bring up and out the flavor) and perhaps a little black pepper. Folks who smother steak with sauce....A1 Ketchup ANYTHING haven't developed a palate or appreciation of fine taste.
Nothig wrong with that except it seems to grate on those of us who truly appreciate the subtle and delicate taste and aromas.

Try this one w/o the A1 sauce..................

LONDON BROIL
Servings: 8 (5 1/2 oz. each)

4 lbs (2 large) flank steaks
FOR THE MARINADE (makes about 5 1/2 cups):
16 oz (2 cups) salad oil
8 oz (1 cup) soy sauce
8 oz (1 cup) Worcestershire sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp dry mustard

MARINADE INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine all ingredients for marinade; blend together well. Place flank steak into marinade. Use small enough container to allow flank steak to be completely covered by marinade. Marinade 24 hours minimum and not more than 4 days or flavor of the meat will be overpowered by marinade

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat grill to 360 degrees F for 1/2 hour.

Drain marinade from meat. Reserve marinade up to two weeks if needed.

Grill flank steak to medium rare. This will take approximately 10 minutes cooking time total. Hold cooked flank steak in warmer if necessary.

Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes.

Slice cooked flank steak at 30 degree angle 1/8-inch thick slices: This is essential to keep flank steak tender.

Mrs.Jane, You have to have moderation when useing A-1. For some like your husband they may like it ON there steak or burger a bit heavy but for others like yourself they may need a bit less. I love the stuff but I only put a small amount on whatever I am digging my teeth into. I do this because I want to taste the meat more and not the overpowerind taste of the A-1. Its all in how much you use. When my girls make honey mustard dressing some folks like it alot and others use just a little. Me I give all with the stuff cuz the girls make it so good.
Have a great tomorrow. Regards, Ammoconfidential

if a steak is cooked right, it should only need its own juice to taste right. you're kinda correct here. i can understand a little a1 on the side or something, but i find that a1 is better used in other things. for instance, if you take some elbow macaroni, scrambled hamburg, and stewed tomatoes, and a1 to taste. it gives it a good zest. another one we do a lot is calzones. just use pizza dough, hamburg (or chicken if you like), some veggies, spaghetti sauce, and again, add a1 to taste.

but just slathering a steak in it seems wrong to me. unless the steak isnt a very good one.

A1 is only good if the steak doesn't have enough flavor of it's own or if it is a cheaper cut of steak.

I don't know what you want answered, but if you don't like A-1 Steak sauce then don't put it on your steak.
