It might be Osiris. Or it might be Attis. Both are very ancient and existed in different forms in earlier times than the ones we know now, which are themselves older than the Jesus myth. There were many. I'm not sure who the oldest was. I know the Jesus myth is very Mithraic, but it was probably heavily influenced by Egypt/Osiris as well and most certainly Dionysus. Of course, they all influenced each other. No culture exists in a vacuum. Almost every culture has a man-god, most have a virgin birth, a rising from the dead. And, coincidentally, that almost all have a big flood from which only very few survive.

Osiris, Egyptian god was killed by his brother Seth who chopped him up. He was put back together by his wife Isis who found all the bits except his penis he came back to life. this is the first instance I know of a god coming back from the dead. However the most amazing similarities exist with the Dionysius mystery cult. Dionysius was born on 25th December. He is portayed as a young bearded man. His followers ate a symbolic meal of bread and wine and he died by being suspended on a tree or wooden frame at the vernal equinox (Easter). Paul of Tarsus who invented a lot of the Jesus mythology travelled through many centres were this mystery cult was very strong and obviously copied some of them for the Jesus mystery cult.

There were numerous male heroes, saviors and god-men within Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Hindu, and other pantheons of Gods whose lives had many points of similarities to Jesus. Of these, the Egyptian God Horus probably had life events attributed to him which were closest match to those of Jesus. Yet, Horus was worshipped in Egypt thousands of years before the first century CE when Jesus is believed to have been ministering in Palestine.
In order to compete with those religions, Christianity would have had to describe Jesus in terms that matched or surpassed the local myths, stories and legends. The authors of the gospels may well have picked up themes from other sources and added them to their writings in order to make Christianity more credible to a largely Greek/Pagan world.

Osiris death and Resurrection was about 350 B.C., Cult of Isis. A rather common Middle Eastern religion. There are other examples through out mythology. You can also find examples of virgin birth, spontaneous healing and other "miracles" in many other religion. It's amazing how Christians think theirs is the first religion to come up with these "miracles".

How many people come out of comas?
Maybe they didn't know what a coma was back in those days, and they were buried semi-alive, in air-tight tombs. Luckily, Jesus' tomb was reopened a few days later.
I came out of a 0.4 coma after 7 days. On the third day the doctors told my parents it would be too costly to keep me plugged into the machine for too long- my dad sold everything he owned to maintain that machine on.
Everything can be explained through science, but without belief we would just be cavemen/women---and some beliefs encourage cavemen/women attitudes---funny, isn't it?
Oh yeah- and I saw a bright light as well. But talking to my doctor afterwards, he told me I came out of coma while they were operating on some blood clots I had in my skull. He said I flung my arms around wildly with my head half open- two nurses fainted and he nearly shat himself. Now he puts people under anaesthesia even if they are in coma. So that explains the bright light- it was the operating theatre!!!!
And THAT is no MYTH!!!
