Preperation of the surface before painting is essential. Surface must be clean rough to the point that paint will stick to it. A glossy surface must be lightly sanded in order that the next coat of paint will adhere, in other words, you are giving the surface "tooth".

It is important to use a "bonding primer" before you apply your finish color coat. If you do not, it is likely that your paint will not adhere to the surface.

Now is not the time to buy the cheapest paint you can find. Buy your paint from a reputable dealer and follow their advice.

Good luck with your painting project.
