It will work fine, if your intention is to kill the little beastie, a crime in most states, unless of course he is your own. I suggest you channel your aggression elsewhere. Cats can have unpleasant personalities, but all Life is Sacred. Shame on you.

Aspirin's probably the best non-prescription pain killer that you can give to a cat or a dog. Depending on the animal's weight, one-half tablet of aspirin is all you should use. I've had veterinarians recommend aspirin, not any other over-the-counter pain medication, in cases where my dogs have had minor problems, including work done to scrap a cyst from the jaw bone. I don't think vets like to prescribe narcotics and use it only in controlled environments of their clinics. Aspirin will make an animal sleepy or subdued, which is why it is also good to use for traveling if your pet is usually quite active.

As noted above, aspirin can cause some stomach upset, even nausea, so it is best to give the animal food to take with it.

Never use human medications for your cat. If you believe he/she has a problem, take it to the vet. If you would like to use alternative medicines for your cat, you can look for a holistic or homeopathic vet in your area.

Type Natural Health Solutions For Cats in your browser on your computer and you will be taken to a site that can help answer all kinds of questions about your cat as well as treatments.

One of my cats went tearing around a corner one time and tore a ligament in his leg and had to have extensive surgery to correct the problem, so please do make an appointment to be sure that the pain your cat is experiencing is not something more serious.

Good luck!!

Never give medication to your pet unless a veterinarian prescribes it. Aspirin may work well for us humans, but it usually has adverse side effects and provides little pain relief for our furry pals. If the animal seems to be in pain, the best thing to do is take it to the veterinarian. I know that it costs money - sometimes a lot of money - but in the long run, if your pet isn't diagnosed and given the proper route of treatment now, things could get far worse down the road.

Asprin + Kitty = Bad news

DO NOT give your cat asprin. If he seems to be in pain, call the vet. In the meantime, try to keep him as still and comfortable as possible.

NO - aspirin is toxic to cats. Check with your vet. There are various things you can get at a better pet store (such as PetSmart) such as glucosamine supplements, etc., that may help if it's arthritis, but you need to have your vet confirm what the problem is first. Arthritis medications won't help if he's broken or dislocated his hip, or pulled a muscle. Good luck!
