I have 4, 4weeks old puppies, that have worms (the long skinny thing ones), should the mother of the pups still nurse them? Also, the mother stands up when the pups come to nurse, is she trying to wean them?

It is o.k.

The puppies should be weinin on to soft food by now. and have also been wormed themselves now and the mother while she was pregnant.

start giving them soft food and the mother will do the rest.

The mother stands up because she is trying to start the weaning process they have little teeth by now that are very sharp. The mother needs to get to the vet as soon as possible that's where the worms started ( With Her ) the puppies also need to go !
worms can be very harmful to the intestine. And it sounds like while you are at the Vets you should set mama up with an appointment to get her spayed.ASAP I hope the mother has had all her shots & the puppies should be next. Fleas can also be a big problam they have stuff you can start them on at 6 weeks old.
& it also protects against heart worms. Check with you Vet ASAP

The mother passed the worms off to the puppies when born, the mother is starting to wean the puppies by standing up and she will let them nurse less and less over the next 1-2 weeks. when the puppies are six weeks old you should do the first puppy visit and have the mother and puppies dewormed and vaccinated.

I think they're getting a bit old to nurse, you should check up on that. On the other hand, why would it be a problem for her to nurse them? Worms can only be transfered to who ever is feeding. Thus she's out of harms way. However, nursing them won't help them much because they will most likely be requesting more milk than they should, and the mother is just not producing as much milk as they are demanding. Worms create a frequent state of hunger, and that may be the issue.

They GOT them from the MOM!!!!!!!!!!! You should be worming them NOW!!!!! I worm puppies at 2,3,4,6,8,and 10 weeks. You always worm the mom along with the puppies. You can get a liquid that contains pyrantel pamoate at the pet store and worm them all!!!!!!!!!! There is no excuse not to!!! This is what you need to do when you let your dog have puppies.

Puppies should be allowed to nurse until at least 6-8 weeks!!! The mother will wean them naturally if she is allowed to!!!!!!

The pups got the worms from her, all pups get them. You need to get them some wormer from the vet, though, and make sure you follow the directions!! As far as weaning, they should be nursing for 2-3 more weeks.

Much Love!!

How did you're taking care of to take your canines out of the vets care with out protecting this subject? Rattlesnake venom gained't be as poisonous at the same time as ate up orally, and could be subtle contained in the mummy's milk (if no longer neutralized by the vets remedy and progression of antibodies by the mummy) and damaged down contained in the digestive procedure.
