wow. you said it!
I think JW have realized that they have a bad reputation to go around and knock on doors.. so if they say at the door that they are JW's they are afraid of the door slamming.
Hell, I had a few drop in on me today when I had the techno/trance blasting and the house was in total disaray! A good Saturday cleaning taking place! She didnt stay long, but she had her daughter and grand daughter in tow.. :)
teaching the family.. oh yay!

Well some do say immediately that they are one of Jehovahs Witnesses. Some don't. I don't every time because most people are busy so I like to keep it short. They appreciate it. We go to peoples homes because Jesus commissioned his disciples to do so and it is a command. And we don't have a 'leader' as if we are a cult. They only leader we have is Jesus. That is not a man. We don't brainwash people either. If ones are interested we have a BIBLE study. If they aren't then we leave them alone. That is all. No more no less. If you are unsure about something we believe it will save yourself time and energy by just asking one why they do what they do.

izofblue37 and Wayne are both correct. jehovah's witnesses are easily recognized, by the way of dressing and our conduct, as well as the literature we give out. we do not have a "leader" that brainwashes and controls us. Our only leader is Jehovah God. We do what he tells us to, and we do it willingly. He does not force us to do anything we don't want to. We preach door to door because Jesus gave us the command to do so in the Bible.
If you would like to know more about us and our preaching, the next time a Witness comes to your door, ask them questions. I'm sure they would be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

1) some witnesses do announce themselves before speaking and some don't it depends on who you are.
2)most people can recognize Jehovah's witnesses because other then the Mormons we are the only people who go door to door and I don't believe we dress like Mormons
3)we want to teach you what the bible says and not be turned away just because you've heard something you didn't like about us
4) we don't have a leader we have a group of elders who are only there to guide us not brainwash us
5)what we say differs for each one of us we don't all plan to say the same thing
6)different brothers and sisters give examples on how to hand out the magazines each month

I would say that nine out of ten people can immediately recognize one of Jehovah's Witnesses at their door. Jehovah's Witnesses all introduce themselves by their " personal name", because that is the polite thing to do. Also, people are very busy, so we try to get to the point.
Jehovah's Witnesses are not trying to mislead anyone. That is why on the front cover of the Watchtower Magazine it says:
"Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom."
Jehovah's Witnesses teach people to better themselves by use of the Bible. It is a practical guidebook to our lives, given to us by our Creator. Jehovah's Witnesses NEVER brainwash people. Only ignorant , prejudiced people believe Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult.
If you don't want to talk with one of Jehovah's Witnesses, when they come to your door, politely tell them. You are not going to hurt their feelings.
But ask yourself, why do Jehovah's Witnesses bother coming to talk to people...why do they take time out of their busy schedules to do this?. We DO NOT get paid. We DO NOT believe it gives us 'brownie points' with God. We do it because of LOVE. Love for our God who's name we are proud to bare....it is Jehovah, by the way, and some day, you will have to know that his name is Jehovah and it is coming sooner than you think.

I agree with what you're saying. However, I had a hard time reading until the end of your paragraph, and sometimes I even had a hard time following your sentences and your thoughts. This is because your grammar, syntax and language usage are extremely bad. I don't mean this as a personal insult. For all I know, you could be dyslexic or having a reading disability.
However, I really hope (and I mean this in a friendly way) that you will get some help for your writing problem. Unfortunately, in this day and age, people judge other people's intelligence and hire-ability on how they write, and if you write this poorly, people will not respect you. Or even worse, they will draw the conclusion that you don't give a flying fig about using language in a normal way. Good luck. :)
And again, I totally agree with your distaste and disrespect for the actions of door-knocking Jehovah's Witnesses. I cannot STAND it either!!

My brother used to not introduce himself by name and just walk up to the door and say hi we are Jehovah's witnesses, people would just look like, ok, and, what do you have today? or they would look at me like uh can you help him out, is he new or something.
that is definantly not the thing to do, it's stupid and rude.

The "leader" of Jehovah's Witnesses is Jesus Christ. Jesus personally instructed his followers to go from house to house. Did Jesus assign them to knock, wait for the door to open, and immediately inform the householder, "We are followers of Jesus."?
No. Christians are assigned to TEACH from house to house:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.
(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. 3 Go forth. Look! I am sending you forth as lambs in among wolves. ...16 “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”
Notice that Jehovah's Witnesses refer to the bible regarding every point of interest in their doorstep conversations. When the words are from God, why should it matter who is reading them? Really, only anti-Witness bigots are interested in complaining about anything and everything that Jehovah's Witnesses do, even if it is clearly from the Scriptures.
And honestly, what other religion is better known than Jehovah's Witnesses for going from door-to-door with God's Kingdom Good News?

No they are trying to spread what they have learned. If you found a cure for cancer wouldnt you want to spread the news? They are simply trying to spread the news of what they believe in. and there are some selish jerks like yourself that if you knew they were jehovah whitnesses then you would shut the door on them and not listen to one more word they say. so they try to introduce themselves as the people they are.

you know it was Mao Tse Dung who said, "religion is the root of all evil".
that was back in 1958..and he's still right.
religion is a man-made belief in a system we do not comprehend. it is something invented by man back in the day.
don't take it too seriously.
i would be more concerned about day to day life and events that shape the world such as this recent Middle East fighting and North Korea mess we are in..along with Iraq, Iran and other crazy things.
it's a bit too much.
