Depending on who you work for, and what dangers you face.
For the armed forces, you will make up to $70,000 per year.
For private industrial sector, this could be anywhere from $20,000 - $100,000 a year. The dangers of what cargo you carry (two bags of wheat compared to a nuclear warhead, for example) contribute to your earnings as well. Helicopter Pilots rarely go by hourly rates.
Requirements:
- 20,20 Vision in both eyes for military. This is not necessary for private sector, but you will require correctional devices such as contacts and glasses if vision is a problem.
- Excellent heart conditions. This is a mandatory requirement for both sectors.
- Reaction time of 0.14 seconds or less for military.
- Your piloting lisence (Military Licence, if available and possible)
- Recommended courses:
English
Algebra & Geometry
Calculus
Physics
Social Studies
Geography
Computers
Health & Physical Education
Hope this helps

Whisperblade got it pretty correct.
(where are you wb? ..I do my sim in Fredericton)
I'm ex-military and been flying civilian for the last 15yrs and have averaged anywhere from 75,000 to 113,000/yr over the last five years flying offshore and siesmic (in some pretty dodgy areas)
To the questioner...the biggest asset you have in applying for any helo job is experience. And that's the rub... the 'catch22.'
I'll stand by the military as your best (and cheapest) form of training but nothing beats being able to say..'been there and done that and didn't prang the aircraft!
Cheers
