Im like that too basically your just gonna have to tell him plain and simple how you feel and since his friend says he feels the same you shouldnt have any problems after that. Theres nothing wrong with you makin the first offical move. If he already likes you and ya know it hes not gonna say no especally if hes shy which more than likly means hes not talkin to that many if anyone else so im sure hell jump at the offer. It will take a lot off of you and him if you try that.

I was in the same situation as you, but I found a way around it. There is a guy at college who I ADORE, but he's very shy about himself and very awkward with women. I was afraid even to flirt because I didn't want him to get uncomfortable and retreat even farther into his shell. Finally, with summer starting, I began finding excuses to email him a couple times a week. He's replied to every email I've sent him, sometimes sending me the equivalent of a two or three page letter. It's just easier for him to gather his thoughts and be himself through writing. We've gotten to know each other a lot better than we might have just hanging out with friends and both being too shy and afraid of rejection to ask the other one out on a date. We already have plans to go to a few hockey games together next semester! Try my methods, and good luck!

You play his game and pretend to be shy, don't do all the talking because you might intimidate the guy. Most shy guys would like someone in the same level, not above or under. Like the same in this case as not too loud or not very quiet. Try to be a little quieter, you won't loose much by doing so.

Don't ask too many questions. He has no idea what to say, because he is probably not used to talking to girls about his innermost secrets. Guys do not want ex-girlfriends who go around hawking copies of their autobiography to all and sundry.
Instead of trying to make him open up,just treat him like a stray kitten.Feed him, pamper him and love him and pretty soon he will stop hiding behind the chairs and take over the entire house.
Make sure you properly house train him and he will eventually talk far too openly and you will have to muzzle him to keep him quiet.

Well, you really have to let him open up. If you want to keep trying then go ahead, but i would not. I would just be shy to him back, and if he responds to that then you have a nice guy on your hands.

How about "you be the aggresor!" Some guys really like this, and even if he doesn't for whatever reason, if he's truely shy he'll see that you're reaching out to him and he'll most likely respond in a good way.

Sometimes you just have to be more direct with us shy guys. Sometimes we cannot see the forest for the trees. We actually might need to be smacked with the clues. Just grab him and say, "I like you, please open up to me some more," and give him a kiss. If he doesn't get the hint then, check to see if he has a heartbeat.

Tell him how you really feel. He might not think you like him. Try and relate to him. Be open and express your feelings, even about his shyness. Perhaps all he needs is a little confidence. Try building up his confidence.
