Okay, so with a previous question I had, which I deleted due to a person's ignorance, I ask another... I'm going to get my wisdom teeth out in December, but it's going to be really hard to get time off of work... I have Christmas break from school December 17 thru January 16.

If you've had your teeth out, how long did it take to heal? I usually heal pretty fast and my teeth are currently: 1 half-impacted, one all the way out, and the other two are impacted but they're growing straight... Can anyone give me advice on if I should wait until after Christmas and before I go back to school?

Sorry if I made this more confusing/difficult than it had to be.

Oh, and another thing, can you get the stitches that dissolve in your mouth or do they have to give you the ones they take out?

It's not about not being able to go back to school, it's taking time off of work. Before Christmas I can only take a few days but after Christmas/New Years it's no big deal.

Ok, I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once. I was in bed for a couple days, the first day, i was in pain and still sleepy from the pill they gave me. You can only eat pudding or jello or something like that because your mouth is majorly sore. There are things that can happen to you when u have holes left from them being pulled out. You can get way too much scare tissue and have to go to physical therapy to open ur mouth again and you can get dry socket(which is more painful than anything because u have to go back to them to do more work to pack it so that u dont get an infection). I think you should do it over ur christmas break so u arent missing school... and i think u could get off work for those days they have to understand. Anyways, good luck. Hope I didnt scare u.

If you dont mind the swollen cheeks, do it after christmas. I was good to go within 24 hours, and I never took the pain meds. Mine were all impacted and growing perpendicular to the rest, but I heal fast. Anyways, if you have a week of rest, that shoud be plenty for most people.

i want you to understand something:im not a dentist, but i'm a very well educated man and from my understanding the reason why you take out the wisdom teeth is because there not what you call fully impacted teeth. you see the most recent mummy found to have fully impacted wisdom teeth is thought to have lived 5000 years ago. so, this is like last week accourding to scienctists. it just depends on your diet and how much space on your jaw bone is available. so, remember, dont just take a doctors word for anything, ok?scott

it should only be a couple of weeks. i had two out at a time and i think i was pretty much healed after two weeks. i had two that were impacted too.
what are you thinking is going to go wrong or that you wouldn't be able to go back to school? you are on soft foods for a little while and then you can eat regular again. i even had two dry sockets. it wasn't bad.

differs from person to person, metabolisms, general health.... The best thing you can do is rest and keep it clean. I had all of mine out at once.. I was in la la land on vicoden for a week...minewere complicated to get out for some reason..major surgery, they had to use a hammer and chisel to get'em out...
Everyone's pain threshold is different. Being female you like most females ordinarily have a higher threshold of pain than males.. It can be anywhere from a day of two to over a week...So if you're tough.. a day or two.. if your wimpy like I was ..a week.

I was back to work the next day. Try to schedule appointment for a Friday, that way you have the week-end to recover. Rinse your mouth several times a day with warm salt water to alleviate pain prior and after extraction.

Mine were all impacted but straight. I had one night's stay in a hospital, although currently I think you can have it done outpatient or at an office. Seems like they removed the stitching within a month.
