Are you people getting this? God does whatever God feels like. He may help he may not help. He may and he may not. Roll the God Dice and take your chances.

YIKES!!!!!!!
I thought that, by the way I asked my question, people would understand that it was a "Hypothetical" question. Please, no more Pryers for my "Hypothetical" friend. Instead: Prayer for all the babies born with defects.

If you want to help your friend, talk to the person and lend support. Stop being maudlin with talk about "death" and "god".

------------------------------

There is not one shred of evidence that proves prayer has any effect. Not one, not now, not ever. Moreover, if one wants to claim that prayer works, then one must admit the prayers of the 9/11 hijackers were answered, and not those of the people in the towers.

The "research" which claimed prayer worked was shown to be a fraud. The finagler counted the alleged "hits" but ignored many of the "misses".

In a more recent study, it was shown that patients who were prayed for died MORE than people who weren't.

Old saying: "Nothing works like prayer!"
Corollary: "Prayer works like nothing!"

You can't lay odds on God's Will. The truth of it is that none of us knows what God has planned. He will take us when He's darned good and ready. God does listen to your prayers though. And His plan may be for your friend to be here for a good long time yet. But all you really can do is to pray. And remain at your friends side through it all. Your support and love will be desperately needed. Sometimes just to listen.....sometimes to just hold a hand.....sometimes to "lighten the moment" and take their mind off it for a bit. And believe me, this support is just as important to the healing process as the procedures the doctors are administering.

My husband had cancer surgery back in Sept of last year. He has gone through SO much since he was diagnosed back in May....chemo and radiation, 3 surgeries and 3 hospital stays in 4 months and another round of chemo. But they got it all. He is now cancer free. The ONLY thing that got me through any of it was prayer. Prayer, and the love and support of family and friends. Fortunately, God wasn't ready for him yet and He didn't take him from us.

I will add you and your friend to my prayers tonight. In fact, I've already said one.

You may pray, but it is up to Him whether to grant it or not. Are you playing a game of odds with God Himself? He is as unpredictable as you can imagine. If He has decided that He will take your friend into His abode, then there is nothing anybody can do. But man should never stop trying. He should never give up hope. The doctors should strive until the last moment to keep him alive, miracles do occur in this world. And yes, as tthe most you can do is to pray for his health, pray fervently and earnestly to God to spare your friend this time.

You can not put odds on whether your prayers will be answered. God is and always has been in control and still does hear and answer our prayers but not always the answer we want. While there was a much higher "healing" ratio in the New Testament, many of Jesus' "miracle's" were clearly done to prove He was who He said he was and to bring glory to the father. While that does not mean that healings do not still take place, it does require much faith, and God's intervention. Some times healings do not take place and God has a higher purpose, such as a testing of ones faith in hard circumstances, etc. I hope that helps answer your question.

a recent study found that people who were prayed for were made sicker than people who weren't prayed for. prayer doesn't help cancer. support groups often help the patient. prayer doesn't.

the odds of a cure vary with the type of cancer, stage of cancer, and resources your friend has access to. best wishes. but, please, no prayers. stop playing pretend. what is this god that gives cancer and then will take it away if enough people act nice? an imaginary god.

It is not that you ask for the cancer to be cured...pray for continued strength for your friend, yourself and their family...God has his plan for our lives and we will never understand how and why these things happen...Know that your friend is now in my prayers...prayer is not an odds thing...it's a faith thing...does your friend believe that God can heal them?...do you believe when you are praying?...God's word tells us that if we believe while we pray we will receive...in the case of a person with cancer I would recommend reading the Psalms...there are great comfort and continued blessings in the Psalms

Everything happens for a reason and is, for the most part, out of our control. Personally, I think prayer is more a means to make ourselves feel as if we can help what we cannot control.

Your friend's chances of survival will depend more upon the severity and extent of his/her cancer.

If this is a real question, I would recommend looking into the eight essential sugars and the effects of diet upon the body's ability to fight cancer.

Best wishes.

Prayer is so unique..
Prayer for your friend, that whatever the outcome, God will be there to give your friend, and his/her family the strength to endure all things.
It may not be in God's plan to cure your friend of cancer..
But if you pray, believe that God has heard you, and believe that God has answered your prayer, and be thankful.
I will also lift your friend up in prayer.
God bless you both.

Gee, are you a christian?? Do you keep God's commandments?? Do you do the things that are pleasing to Him?? If your answer is NO, then you don't have much chance of getting answers to your prayers. God takes care of his kids and not the neighbors. You can ask a Christian to pray for you and God might use that person.
1John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

A doctor I ask this same.. thing. It came from a question about a child that didnt have a great chance of pulling through.

He said that he cannot give up even when theres nothing to do and that when prayer is the only thing left that is what he does.
