Do you just use soapy water, or is there something that will leave the leaves looking shiny? I don't have a green thumb, so I have about 5 fake trees and tons of plastic plants, and they're all in need of serious dusting/cleaning.

i don't have a lot of plastic plants, but the few i do, i take out of the pot and swish in a large bucket of soapy water and the swish in clear water to rinse. i then let them drip dry, shaking occasionally. if it is a large plant, you can put it in the bathtub, covering the pot part with plastic, and close the shower curtain and give it a quick shower, shaking it to loosen the dust. let drip dry, some people use canned air to clean, and hairspray to make them glossy. hope this is helpful. also if you don't want them to get wet, take outside on breezy day and dust with feather duster. good luck, and happy cleaning.

White vinegar works best. It cleans well, and doesn't dry out the "leaves" like some household cleaners will. If you just have a light dust, use the canned air that is made for cleaning computers.

I put them in the shower and let it do the work. Shake them good to get the excess water off and then let them dry outside where they will dry quicker and not spot. If they are grimy from winter heaters, you can spray them with degreaser, I use Mean Green, and let them set awhile in the shower to loosen the grime and then turn on the hot to cleanse them until you have clear water running off of them. If they are in a basket w/,moss,etc. you may want to let it stick outside of the shower. It probably won't hurt it in the shower but I don't know exactly what you have. Most baskets and moss are natural and have been in the water before!Have fun showering your plants! You don't have to talk to them or water/feed them but they need a little attention.
