We don't have to. Where did you hear that?

I don't think we are forced to learn any other language, but at least in California, your value in the job market increases if you know Spanish or Mandarin Chinese... It is sad that in America, you have a better opportunity by learning the language of a different country. In schools around here, it's almost difficult to keep your child in an all-English speaking class - there are so many classes that are taught in both Spanish and English. If you feel that you shouldn't be "forced" to learn Spanish, you really have to put your foot down and be stubborn about it... but who will suffer for it?

Everyone should learn another language. It would make sense to learn Spanish in America. Many employers are looking for employees that can speak Spanish, so recommend you just learn it.

We're not being forced to speak Spanish. It helps when dealing with people, but we're not required to learn it. If the government tries to make me learn Spanish, then I'll pack up and move to Mexico and make them learn English.

I think everyone should embrace the chance to learn anything especially another language. I know I'm doing my best to learn spanish as fast as I can. At some point in the near future I'm hopeing to get my piece of the spanish pie. You should keep up of be left behind.

I agree. Americans should learn english. You should be one of the first to start. And maybe take some common sense classes, if there are any. And maybe take some magical pills that will take away your moronic mind. Hopefully.

You are not forced to learn spanish. Don't be such a ******/g ignorant moron. In fact, don't learn spanish. I don't want to be walking down my street in Mexico and find you there.

Moron. I don't even want to start on the 'they should learn english' bit. Just go masturbate or something. Moron.

Whose forcing you to speak Spanish? Has anyone tied you to a seat and forced you to stay in a Spanish class?
I know you probably wouldn't be caught dead watching the Spanish-language channels, but they are constantly advertising English-training programs and sessions.

You shouldn't have to learn Spanish. They shouldn't have to learn English. It may be helpful for one of you to, but no one's forcing you to.

Exactly!...
I used to work at a place that was 95% mexican. They kept telling me I needed to learn spanish.
I would say..."No,... I live in the USA. It is an english speaking country. And I have no plans on going to Mexico."

Not going to argue there. When I go to another country to visit....I try to speak there language...although probably not well. Occasionally I'll try english and someone will usually be able to understand me...but I'm visiting. Now, if I was moving to germany for the rest of my life, you better damn well believe I'd learn german. Same thing applies in america. If you're here for a visit....welcome! Enjoy yourself, give english a try. I'm very patient with people who try. If you're living here and refuse to learn english, you're not going to get very far here or be very successful in the long run.
