You can use a gauze square just as easily, or cut up a wash cloth in smaller bits and wrap them around your finger. You don't really need any "paste", just the brushing will do the job. If you want a doggie paste and the pet store ones are too expensive, use the baby toothpaste that has no flouride in it.

Anything will pretty much work, a toddlers toothbrush is the best. You can buy them at any drug store & just look for size 1, 2, or 3. That way you have a handle to hold onto also. Your vet will carry a line of toothpaste, so will major pet stores. The important thing is that your doing it.

We actually buy our dog DentaBones. They're just like a regular bone but they work to get off all the plaque and whatnot on your dog's teeth as they chew it down, and it's safe for them to ingest. They come in several sizes. It will also keep them occupied for a while, but the best part is that you don't have the hassle of brushing with a toothbrush and toothpaste.

No, I just bought a doggie toothbrush, and doggie toothpaste, and I brush their teeth that way. It isn't that difficult, and you probably shouldn't use human products on animals.
