Have minimal furniture (light oak ent. center, dark green couch) and raising 2 kids. Nice open room with 2 sizeable windows. Curious to see if your pick(s) match mine. Thanks!

With 2 kids, I'd steer clear of a light coloured carpet. I like the idea of dark green, but with the couch it might be too much. What about a contrasting colour, say terracotta, it would look nice against the dark green and light oak. Especially if the walls are cream.

I would use a multi blend of med.browns, beiges, a little black, and a little slate blue (which will blend with any blue and will also tend to look greenish with green acessories). It will not show dirt, stains, and will go with any color of furniture/wood trims, etc. It will help bring the outside natural colors inside. You definintely don't want dark green! It shows every string, every tiny piece of paper, hair, etc. Besides it would be too much green.I would suggest a shorter carpet so it will look better after time and not look matted. With the dark green and multi carpet, you can use lots of color in paintings, pillows, throws, and accessories to brighten up the room. The carpet will match your furniture if you decide to get covers for a change of look also. Have fun!
