Do you think it's right to have laws that make people wear seatbelts or motorcycle helmets? I don’t think we should have those laws so that natural selection can take its course. Just let the people who are too dumb to wear a seatbelt or helmet die. Is that harsh?

I don't wish for those people to die, it's just likely that they will die from their own stupidity. And, yes, it is stupid to not do something so simple that can save your life.

True, the seatbelt-less morons would die, removing their defective genes from the gene pool.
Unfortunately, those same morons have often already procreated, and have their unseatbelted kids sitting in the backseat. For the sake of those poor uncared for children, we need seatbelt laws.
Who knows? Maybe those children are not as stupid as their parents? We need the seatbelt laws so that those kids get a chance to grow up.

The first 40 years of my life I never wore a seatbelt because there were no laws demanding to wear seatbelts and most cars didn't even have seatbelts.
I wasn't stupid. My parents weren't stupid. Millions of Americans weren't stupid and didn't deserve to die.
Why are idiots writing that people deserve to die if they don't wear seatbelts? How cruel & mean-spirited are you?
It's the law to wear seatbelts now so I always wear them. And when I used to ride a motorcycle I always wore a helmet even if it wasn't the law to do so. But I sure as heck don't wish people to die if they don't wear them. What a SICK way to think.

This is just one more case of a dumb law. It is physically impossible to legislate morality or common sense. Skip stupid laws and let's enforce some of the ones that need enforcing.
Some jerk shot up a school yard in Stockton, CA. Several students were killed and wounded. Did anyone scream murder, absolutely not, it was a BAD gun and it needs to be banned, Not a single word to hold the shooter responsibility.
A nut case shot a President. He was tried and found to be nuts. If they had tried him for the gun laws he broke, he would still be facing forty years instead of getting to go home for visits.
12,000,000 (and growing) illegal immigrants and nothing can be done.
We can find one cow born in Canada two years ago and every offspring and every bull that serviced her. And, we can't do a damn thing about illegals. Somebody is getting rich and it sure ain't me or anyone I know.
Some idiot that won't buckle up or put on a helmet probably has nothing worth protecting. HeII I have an antique pickup and I have installed belts even though it could lower the value to a small group of buyers.

There are a lot of people that only wear helmets and seatbelts because the law tells them to wear them. I for one am in favor of the laws. I have worn a seat belt for as long as I can remember. I always wear a helmet because I want to look good for my funeral if we crash.

various those regulations are pushed by via the insurance companies that now no longer choose to pay. they have exceeded a regulation against eating places in NYC that prohibits trans fat in the nutrition they serve. Helmet regulations and seat belt regulations do cut back harm and dying, it is solid for us, and likewise solid for the insurance companies. weight problems is a concern, yet could we be counseled what to consume? Why do no longer they bypass a regulation banning cigarettes, even nonetheless the tobacco agencies pay thousands and thousands in court docket circumstances, and the insurance companies could pay for medical look after human beings who smoke? A regulation banning cigarettes might create a rebel, yet a regulation banning fattening ingredients is okay in the eyes of a few lawmakers. on an identical time as we are at it, why do no longer we bypass a regulation banning video games, which seems to be a substantial contributor of weight problems in infants? we could continuously bypass a regulation against idiotic lawmakers, yet it is an oxymoron, as they might could bypass a regulation banning themselves.

I'm with you. We have too many stupid people endangering the rest of us. I'd like for anyone who uses a cell phone while driving, to refuse to use their seat belt.

Those laws are there so that those who collect our taxes don't get stuck with paying county hospital bills of those who are not insured.
They don't give a sh** about our "safety". It's $$$$$
They use the word "safety" as a smoke screen.
