Some people greet eachother with hello brother or sister. Why do people do this?

in baptist churches they say this if you are saved, i was brother sean at a church in warren michigan in 2000 because i was saved

For truly if we Love the Lord, we are all brothers and sisters..I also call them brethren..and greet them with a Holy Kiss and a hug.. :)

I think it's just a gesture of trusting and comfort among those who feel they are accepted.. cause I believe many many different types of people do it, and not all are religious..

but then, there are a lot of religious sects that do it too.

I laughed at the imbred southern baptist thing though.. heh heh.. when I DID go to church, it was a baptist one.. and Im in southern ontario.. so that just kinda made me lol..

yes because we are brothers and sisters through Christ...i know the baptist faith does because my dad was a baptist minister and we always called everyone brother wray or sister wray.. whatever there last name was usually.. sometimes we called them sister by their first name....but brother wray and sister wray were the pastor and his wife before my dad became pastor of the church....

there are many - the Quakers are one...the Amish...we are brothers & sisters in Christ . . .
