I don't know who said it but, what do you think of this quote?

"Ethical people will do what is right no matter what they are told, most religious people will do what they are told no matter what is right."

Sadly to say, it smacks the nail right on the head.

Who decides what is right and ethical? What standard is used to measure it?

I know that people have done things in the name of religion that are simply not right. But they are not right by their own standards.

Ethics are hard to pin down. What seems ethical to you may or may not seem ethical to me. It depends on our value systems.

How do we objectively determine what is true, ethical, moral, just, or right?

I think it's a stupid quote, because who determines what is ethical and right?
What is right to me, is wrong to someone else. What is ethical to me, is unethical to someone else.

Noone will ever agree on anything. No matter what you think someone will disagree. So what your point??????

Um, yeah but that is why we seek forgiveness for our sins and most of the time we do what is right but hey, everyone does bad things. But god is a god of second chances. (and third and fourth and how ever many it takes as long as you truly mean it.

I think that it is an interesting point, but one that is, in itself, flawed because it is generalizing people into two different groups, when they may be one, both or neither.

Best wishes.
