Is it possible to close Norton Antivirus? The only option I have is to minimize it. When I try to manually close the program it gives me an "access denied" message.

Norton is famous for this one, It is next to impossible to get off your computer because the company figures you will give up and just install a newer version. Corporate edition is the worst. Go to my computer, control panel, add and remove program and try to uninstall it. If it won't let you then call Geek Squad, they have software to get it off, however, it will cost you about a hundred dollars...

you need to be on an account with admin permissions. Your probably using a "limited" account right? Boot in safe mode if there's no PW which most of the time they don't put one use that to turn it off.

you can look at it two ways:
either you don't have enough permissions, so log on as the administrator
or Norton are protecting you from yourself, so leave it minimised to protect you from viruses.
