I like how your mind thinks. LOL I agree, it is a funny name. It is just a bean. I have no idea how they came up with the name.

It actually is sort of a pea, in that it is a legume that is not exactly a bean. A pea, too, is a legume that is not exactly a bean. They have things in common, such as the fact that they grow in pods; hence "pea" in the name of the garbanzo bean.
