"Problem... or inconvenience?" From a book by Robert Fulghum, regarding how to look at situations in life. He heard it from a holocaust survivor when he (Fulghum) was complaining that he had been served sausages 5 days running. He looked at the young man claiming that this was a problem, an outrage, something to get hugely upset about... and pointed out that it was an inconvenience, NOT a problem! It's a good way to stop yourself from taking things too seriously.

Other favorites: When one door closes, another one opens... but it's hell in the hallway.

Of course your parents know how to push your buttons... they installed them!

Hope for the best, but expect the worst.

If you lend someone $100 and they don't pay you back - it was probably worth it.

Before you criticize someone, you should try walking a mile in their shoes. That way when you *do* criticize them, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes!

LOL

There is a core moral there...that is, don't critcize or judge others. It's a call to empathize with others, regardless of their circumstances. But I just love the twist of humor! hehehe
It makes me laugh...and laughter is the best medicine for whatever ails you. :)

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a fishing pole and he'll eat for life.

It means that it's better to take the time to teach someone a skill that will allow them to help themselves, rather than enabling them by doing the work for them. While I believe in helping my fellow man (and sometimes that means feeding them), it's better to teach them a useful skill. That way they can take pride in their own work and provision. That's no small thing.

Look for the ridiculous in everything and you will find it.

It was in the inside cover of the book Running with Scissor by Augusten Burroughs. I just loved the book and the quote felt like it fit me so well . . . and the book too.

I saw that written on the wall at the Tire Bouchon creperie at the top of Montmartre in Paris.

I like it, because that's exactly the kind of love I have been searching for my whole life, someone who feels my joys, and experiences my pains, and I his. I plan on using that in my wedding vows some day.

I have several----the last one about the angels impressed me so much that I had a wing tattooed on my right shoulder. I have them in my 'signatures', so they are all in every email I send.
