Pepcid complete. Sometimes, if it's bad enough, I have to sleep sitting up on the recliner. I stopped drinking sodas, and stopped eating anything past 9pm, and it definately helps! Losing weight will help more, but I love snacking! My husband keeps nagging me to see a doctor. Yeah, I really should.

I've had it since I was about 14, and I've taken pretty much everything they make. Currently it's prilosec because it's over the counter and when on sale, cheaper than buying the newest latest greatest pill. I try not to take it all the time since there aren't a lot of longitudinal studies on what the effects of long term use are. I use tums/rolaids or other of that type of antacid sometimes when it is not bad. When it is bad, I do the prilosec for two weeks.

There are some lifestyle things that I've found helpful too.
- Eating smaller meals (you can eat more often just don't stuff yourself) has helped me.

- Not eating soon before bedtime.

- I avoid foods that make it worse like tomato, raw onion, and anything vinegary.

- Alcohol makes it much much worse so if you can lay off the booze it helps.

- I limit myself to no more than two cups of coffee a day. I probably should drink no coffee, but I'm an addict. No caffenated soda.

- I've read that licorice (real licorice, not the strange plastic red stuff) is good for protecting stomach lining. You could look into natural remedies like this if you are interested.

Whatever you choose, please talk to your doctor before you decide and about your decision. Remember that any non-pharm remedies are equally important for you to discuss with your doctor as drug options. There can be side effects and interactions even with "natural" or herbal products so it's important for you to bring this up with your doctor.
