Canadian Road Trip Tips?

I'm road tripping it next summer from Southern Ontario to Vancouver BC with my mom. (we're going on a cruise to alaska). What are some great things to do and see on the way other than the obvious West Edmonton Mall? We'll be travelling in May.

Get to Vancouver early and take the ferry to victoria, and then drive up the island. The ferry scenery alone is worth the trip. The trees on the island are sooo huge it will blow your mind. You can do some surfing in tofino. Also take a day or 2 and drive to Whistler (about 2 hours north of Van City). I agree with a previous poster that banff and jasper are worth seeing. For fancy, upscale dining and accommodations check out the Chateau in Lake Louise, Alberta. Even if you don't stay there take an afternoon and walk around the lake, it's beautiful.

Also, stop in Golden, BC and take the gondola up the Whitetooth Ski Hill (it's open all year) and have lunch at the Eagle's Eye restaurant at the summit. It's Canada's highest restaurant and the view is great. (Although if you order tea or coffee it may not be as hot as usual as water boils at lower temperatures at that altitude).

Make a point of stopping in Jasper or Banff, or somewhere in the Rockies. It's beautiful, and well worth the detour.

Take lots of tissues/toilet paper. Thats a long stretch between here and no where.
