Last night I heard someone saying that the Bible prophecied that gas prices would increase dramatically. I don't remember the Bible specifically stating that. Did I miss something somewhere?

I wasn't implying that I believed it.

People can (and do) read anything they want into Bible prophecy. Whenever I hear ANYONE talking about what the Bible says, I politely ask them to show me... Most, even preachers, can't.

There could have been a prophecy about having to buy fuel, but the prophet may not have realized that it would apply today to liquid or gaseous fuel.

However, having said that, it is possible that the moral conditions that cause the fuel shortage back then may be similar to the ones that have caused our current predicament. In which case, our moral response should be the same.

Please get a concordance, or find one on line and look up fuel, wood, pay, buy and fire. You may be able to find a reference that way.

I doubt seriously if the Bible ever prophecised about gas price since there were no cars in that time. However, it did say that there would be wars and rulers of wars and that the king of the north would come against Isreal. You really have to read it for yourself and figure it out.

You may be thinking of the scripture at Revelation 6:6 that says:

"a quart of wheat for a de·nar´i·us, and three quarts of barley for a de·nar´i·us; and do not harm the olive oil and the wine."

This scripture is prophesying that there would be a shortage of food in the last days. Therefore, prices would increase for food.

That's somewhere south of ludicrous. The Bible was written thousands of years ago by people who used hot oily substances to burn other people. They had no idea about the future uses of petroleum. More and more modern references are being written into the Bible to make it relevant to today's events.

I think that I missed that one too.. The concept of prices going sky high in the great tribulation is there, but gas specifically, I don't think so..
