A friend of mine from india told me they have a special haj terminal airport at delhi which sits idle 9 months of the year and on a huge expense maintained by the govt. Also they take subsidies from the govt. to go for haj and the govt. gives it to them due to vote bank politics.
I know for a fact that muslims are supposed to do haj from their own money and it is not "Farz" on people who cannot afford it? Why then they take this charity from the govt. taxes mostly made up of taxes paid by people who are not even muslim? Why are there no guidelines issued to these muslims by the muslim authorities to refuse this charity from the indian govt and to pay for the Haj on their own?

I am not sure but I am gonna look this one up. I come from Malaysia and we have govt helping people to go to haj in which and individual can put a small some of money like a college fund for kids and the govt would add some to it as time goes from taxes that they take from other muslims which is called "zakat". So its like taking the extra from the rich and putting it into a poor man's account so that he can someday go to Haj and fullfill one of his 5 pillars.
So I think thats fair treatment. I look at it as if the govt just balancing the ability of muslim people who don't have a lot to be able to go to Hajj. So may be it is the same thing in India but it is weird if the taxes are from non muslims tho.

First, taking money from non-Muslim doesn't matter. Whoever gave it to you, it is your money, and you can spend it for whatever you want.

But, of course, Haj is farz for those who's rich(they don't have to be too rich, but have money). Of course, the others can go, too; but for them it is not farz I don't know if it's allowed to take money from others and go to Hajj, but if they are not saying they are taking the money for Haj, and the charity organiser thinks they'll use the money for basic needs(like food etc.)... Then I don't know again, but they are cheating the charity...

But Hajj is not farz for everyone!
