of course it is. it's not natural or normal for a dog, especially a very small puppy to eat things like that! the puppy should still be nursing.

I would absolutely call a vet. The puppy is still very young (although my daschund was already weaned at that age too). She should be in an area where she cannot get into anything like that. We put ours in the laundry room and used a baby gate to keep him in if we weren't going to be right there with him. You really need to find the source of the allergic reactions, it could save her life and make her much happier and more comfortable.

Also, make sure you are feeding her the same kind of high quality puppy food all the time. At that age, my dog was eating canned Pedigree lamb and rice puppy food with a small amount of small breed puppy formula Eukanuba food mixed in. And NO people food! Feed her the same food all the time, no variation or it will wreak havoc on her tummy. Also, sometimes dogs will eat non-food items if they are lacking something (vitamins, mineral) in their diet.

It would definitely be the very best thing if you took her to a vet and had her checked out. Most of the time and office visit is only about $30. It would be worth it for a happy healthy puppy.

Your dog is eating this because it's a puppy. it is doing this as apart of learning about about it's surroundings in it's world. As it gets older if you find it doing a lot of chewing it is usually from boredom. change it toys out or change color of it's bedding. Just like people they sometime need a change
