There's no biological reason for that.

Women who do it do it for the money. I mean, some might like sex a lot, but I'm sure they could easily get it for free! However, some, like the ones who do are sadomasochists do it because they feel in control (no sex involve; they are the ones who give pain/pleasure)

As for men, they go see a prostitute because:
- they want the experience
- they want to experience something they haven't done before (anal, for ex.)
- they don't have a GF
- they have a GF but want to have sex with someone else; they think it is better to go and see a prostitute than hit on a girl

That's pretty much it (I'm sure there are other reasons)

It's caused by a chemical in the foremost part of the brain. In fact, it was recently discovered within a group of wild penguins--one of them rented their body out to another in exchange for a salmon and some seaweed.
