This afternoon my husband and I came across two abandoned two-week-old puppies. We have them all cuddled up in a blanket and box and after much coxing got them to drink some milk...but now what? Is milk okay to give them? How often? How much? Until when? Should we be doing anything else?

go to the local vet or pet store buy a puppy suppliment and feed the babies. I am honestly not sure how much to feed them but they should be able to tell you and how often to feed them. Cow milk can make their stomach upset for it is not easily digested to puppies.

They need to be kept warm. so getting a heating pad put it on low and put a towel over it and put the puppies on it in a box or something. This needs to be checked on very reguraly to make sure the heating pad doesn't get to hot.

You can wrap a clock that tics in a towel this can stimulate a heart beat and keep the pup comfortable.

also

wipe there butts and other areas after every feeding to make sure they eliminate. just kind of tickle it. This stimulates a mothers licking. this is what the mamma dog does to make them go

2 week old puppies still drink nothing but milk. the middle of next week need to try to feed them soft dog food and wein them from puppy milk gradually every day.

Cow milk is not easily digested in dogs. a puppy milk suppliment should be used. I have got a home recipe and I will try to find it. if i find it I will be back. good luck

ok got It

10oz evaporated milk or goats milk
3oz sterilized water
1 egg yolk(raw)
2T regular mayonaise
1c wholefat yogurt

this is the website and very very close to what my vet says

First I would take them to the vet and make sure they are healthy. Then got some puppy milk replacer for them, regular milk is not good for them. They will probably eat every two hours, but they will let you know when they are hungary. They will probably take less than an ounce each right now per feeding, but as you feed them, you can tell if they have had enough or not. Since they are being bottle fed, you can wean them between 5 and 6 weeks old. They should start to nibble puppy food before then, but they will still need the milk. After they start getting teeth, place soem moistened puppy food down and show it to them, they will learn to eat that as well. Keep them warm, and away from a direct breeze. Hope this helps some,Good luck

Will need 17ml of puppy formula each day-divide by 4 and feed 4XS per day -each puppy. Do not use Goat milk. If 2% dilute e just a Little bit with water to make sure don't get runs if tolerate do not dilute and if skim milk do onot dilute. Can get puppy formula Pet smart,Pet co or any Pet food store. Also important they stay Warm-for at 2 weeks vulnerable do not handle a whole lot but keep tucked in blanket even when feeding. Best is to call Vet for will not charge for advice and later will need vet services Good Luck.

OMG, Yes, You should be doing a lot more. First off, Do not give cows Milk to Puppies as they could die due to Dehydration because of Diarrhea.
Use one can Goats Milk one can water with 2 Egg Yolks, and 2 Tablespoons or Corn Syrup mixed in it. Feed with Human Baby bottle with Nipples every 2 to 3 hours, day and night for another week or so, then about 3 to 4 hours until 6 weeks old, then put on Puppy food, free choice. They need to be kept warm.

call a vet to find out specifics...DON'T WAIT! when a puppy is that young you need to know all you can. don't worry about the puppy sleeping, that is perfectly normal....they sleep probably about 21 hours a day. you are doing a good thing. If you take care of it until it is eight weeks then you can sell it. Maybe you will end up wanting to keep it.

Hi,,, i use to work as a animal rehab person,, so here are a few suggestions...
you are doing great so far... milk,, warmed not hot,, and some water also... warm box and talk to them,,,

ok,, next call a vet or some animal care place and see if you can locate a nursing dog,, or one that has just about finished,, see if you can get her to help,, that would be best,, next is to get some droppers or turkey basters and let the pups suck,, instead of drink.. when they get older , you can begin food... but that is a while away yet.....

good luck

Do not give them regualar milk...that will make them sick, too hard to digest. You need to get special formula made for puppies from the pet store or a vet. They will need to be fed about every 4 hours, and they will not be able to go to the bathroom on their own..they will have to be simulated. You need to call a vet right away and get some help from them on how to care for the puppies.

First off, Take this little guy to the vets and have it scanned it may already be owned by someone else and after you find out that you could be the proud owner of this little guy have this dog given a physical you know a major tune up for this little guy.
Good Luck!.

Actually, dairy is not that great for them. Make an appointment with the vet ASAP and then take a trip to pet smart or pet co. They have special "formula" (like you would give a baby only for dogs) to give the dogs. May God Bless you both for being wonderful human beings.
