Yes, we are to be modest in our clothing. Why would you want to tempt your Christian brothers?

1 Timothy 2:9: I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,

1 Peter 3:3-4: Don't be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. 4 You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

"Modesty focuses on inward beauty, for that kind of beauty remains strong and youthful long after our bodies turn old and frail."

You can go back at any time, even now to correct grammar and spelling.

My answer is NO! Clothes do not make the person. Clothes are for one purpose only - to protect against the elements. I am agnostic myself, but if a person believes, then he or she should show it in their actions and the way they live. I know many devout Christians who are nudists.

Clothes tend to group people. If there is such a thing as a Christian dress code, how would we group them if some are less faithful than others? Being nude means one group - nude. You can judge and group people after you really get to know them by their actions and words.

Well, that would be an interesting distinction to make. What one person would consider modest dress, another might think immoral. There are certain sects of Christianity that would object to the shorts (end at 4" above my knees) and t-shirt I'm wearing right now. Some sects consider it sinful for women to wear pants of any kind. So who would decide what is modest?

Without a thought, yes.

If a Christian is suppose to put God first, then why do so many professing to be Christians put God second in their dress?

They will dress up for a job interview of as their boss or company they work for demands, but when they go to church, they dress up as if they are going on a picnic or trip etc.

Now how can they claim they are Christian by dressing this way in church and the other way for work or trying to get a job?

The views of how appropriate certain attire are for Christians differs with the time period and region. Clothes are of the material world ... they should have nothing to say about an individual spiritually or theologically.

There is nothing irreligious about a thong bikini ... some might even claim it to be expressing the beauty of the human form ... a testament to God.

Clothing and attire have nothing to do with morality.

Well, a true Christian isn't going to dress up with little or nothing left to the imagination. Christianity teaches modesty, and morals. I'm not saying that everyone that wears short-shorts and tiny shirts, or speedos aren't Christian, but I'm saying that they could probably think twice if they reflected more.

No, I respect someone's belifes and their rights, but putting it in a person's dress could make someone feel uncomfertable or disrespected or many other things if they don't believe that way.

But, if it is for religous purposses like an Orthodox Jew covering themselves or a priest with that collar thing(sorry, I am Jewish so I don't know the name of it) then it is okay.

The Bible says to dress modestly. When you put something on what would someone say, who are you dressing for? The way you are dressed has a lot to say about a person and what they believe. God Bless

In the sense that we (assuming that we are christians i mean) try to show that we are temple of God by the way we dress. Meaning dress modestly, etc... However, there is no need to wear "Jesus clothes." I've always thought that it;s kind of silly to do so.

Yes I do. I try do dress modest and feminine. I believe that modest simple feminine dress and a crucifix reflect my belief in God and my Savior. I only wear a dress if I consider it "Mary like" I never wear pants.

Peace of Christ,
Debra
