Just be courteous to the judge and explain what happened and you should be fine. Let him know that you know flipping a person off wasn't the best decision, but you did it with the intention of getting the person off of your tail, not to instigate a problem.

If you were not more than ten miles below the speed limit, this should have not been an issue. And I am unaware of the inside lane in a congested area where a turning lane in the middle was subject to faster traffic only. I thought speed limits were that, speed limits. So if you were doing the speed limit, I fail to see a problem. I think you were pulled for flipping what you didn't know was a police officer off. I don't know some states have what is called absolute speed laws and others allow for speeding to safely pass a vehicle. Flashing the high beams is a legal signal to have someone who is moving slower to move over to allow those traveling faster to go ahead.
Explain your case, you may or may not. I do doubt it since you gave him the one finger salute.

You are wrong, no one does it, but on three lanes, you are suppose to drive in the left lane, unless you are passing, if a car is wanting to pass you, you are suppose to pull over and let them pass.
Driving 101.
Most likley if you had just got out of his way, nothing would have happened.
You got the ticket because you fliped him off, that is plain and simple, Since he took it personal, he will be sure to get to court and be sure you are found guilty.
he can flash his lights to get you out of the middle lane, like anyone can ( again you are suppoe to let them pass anyway)
And he turned on his other lights to officially pull you over.
I would say telling this story in court would only make it worst.

Depends on how far under the speed limit you were going. If you were rude to the cop, not a chance. Although, if I were you, I would make it a point to mention that you did not realize it was a police officer behind you, and that if you had you wouldn't have flipped the bird.

I've seen it go both ways. A lot will bear on the arresting officer's track record with the judge. State your case clearly and without emotion, and rehearse what you are going to say. Remember, you are not used to appearing in court (hopefully) so a little practice will go a long way. Good luck!

It was the Mayors fault! Why? you ask? well, the mayor appointed the cheif of police and inturn the chief of police hired the ****** cop so, it's the mayors fault!!
The next Question, can you beat the rap? not likely, the mayor plays golf with the judge.

if you stated what state and city. could give you a better answer. but did the police car have light bar ?? or low profile car ? sounds like you gave him cause to stop you. most states its called " disorderly conduct by gestures ". i am shocked that you wasn't ticketed for that . if you was then you could beat the tickets.

Only way to get off is to not have broken the law he gave the ticket for. What did you get a ticket for?

When someone flashes their lights it means to please move to the right. It doesn't give cause for a flip off. I'm thinking the policeman was within the law. good luck in court.
