A battery recharger

You can purchase a replacement battery charger, BUT you need to be sure that you purchase a battery charger for your specific type of rechargeable battery. For example if you have NiCad batteries, you'd need a charger for that type. Don't use a NiCad battery charger with other types!!

Generally I'd stick with purchasing a replacement charger of the same brand as well. It really doesn't hurt to be safe. Some brands have optimized their batteries and chargers for best performance.

Finally, keep in mind that rechargeable batteries won't last forever. With that thought, you could always purchase another battery charger with batteries of the same brand and type. Or if your batteries were old enough, they might be nearing the time they might need replaced anyway.

Please don't try home brew charging methods. Its too easy to damage the battery which could cause it to explode or catch fire. Also a strong reason for not trying to be too cheap when replacing the charger.

Ive used a low voltage transformer to recharge batteries. They get a little warm and risk exploding so stick them in some tupperware just in case. Connect the positive line from the transformer to the positive side and the negetive wire to the negetive side. plug her in and wait.

P.S. if its a 1.5 volt battery... try and find a 1.5 volt transformer. if all you have is a 3 volt transformer, set up 2 bateries in series so they can handle the voltage. Also the lower the amperage on the transformer, the better.. less chance of nuking one of them. It doesnt take long either!

Disclaimer: Im a maniac when it comes to electricity. My home is full of spliced wires and frankenstien devices (usefull and makes good conversation pieces). I do all this at my own risk. If i do something stuipd and get hurt, its noones fault but my own. The same goes for you!

Might wanna just get a home battery recharger... much easier on the cells as well.

a store....

anything else and you might electrocute yourself. I'd rather spend the extra money then die...if you find some other alternative though, make sure that you're hand isn't wrapped around the metal so that if you do get electrocuted your hand doesn't cramp around it and actually cause you to do. when electricity hits hands, it causes your limbs to cramp and not allow you to move them. use an open hand.
