Depends on what is wrong. If it is cancer then the outlook is usually not good. But if it is diabetes, a person can live many, many years with insulin injections.

You suffer a greatly when your pancreas is shot. You become very sick with diabetes, nausea, and vomiting, Diarrhea and then you turn yellow, you get ascites and your liver shuts down. Your kidneys shut down and you begin to not be able to pee, you develop uremic frost from the renal failure and then get confused. It becomes an issue whether or not your family decides to put you on dialysis. You get organic brain syndrome and end up in a nursing home where your family usually leaves you and never visits because you treated them so badly during your dinking days. Ask your doctor if I am wrong, then ask him how long you have if you stop drinking today.
