It only means that what we do not know cannot hurt nor break us. :)

Gracious, you sound cynical. "Ignorance is Bliss" refers to not knowing things that can hurt you--and you are not being hurt in anyway by not knowing. Such as, all the things that go wrong the morning of a wedding--if the bride doesn't know, she's blissful that the world is perfect. If she knew, she'd be stressed and not be able to change any of it anyway. So, in some cases, 'ignorance is bliss' is a protection, not a true ignorance.
i agree that some people follow others blindy, but, IMO, the vast majority of people use ministers, teachers and parents as guides, not the sole source of the sole truth. any parent of teens can tell you--teens don't follow what parents say!
And, it is VERY possible to read the wisdom of the Bible, and still allow your mind to grow. In fact, it's a responsibility of anyone who does read the Bible.
What do you think people are becoming aware of? i would counter that people aren't NOT becoming aware, but that media puts us all on "sensory overload" and there is too much, all sent in short sound bites. We have to sort through, and absorb what we can. to become aware of "all of it" would be impossible, and meaningless, to some degree. We'd be too busy becoming aware to do anything about any of it!!
the flip side of "ignorance is bliss" is "Tis folly to be wise..."

No, It means there are just somethings I would rather not know, Like if someone wants to tell you about their sex life, I personally would rather not know, so in this case Ignorance is bliss.
hope that helps.
As for the rest of your question, I am not stupid, blind or dumb I simply KNOW that there is more to this world then what a lot of so called intelligent people think.
I cannot tell you how many people that I know who claim to be so smart, they gloat about their IQ and are Atheist. does this imply that they must know something that I do not, no. from what I see it says that even smart people are stupid sometimes, I cannot explain why a car works yet it does, does that mean it does not exist, no. It means I don't have all the answers.
I say to any Atheist out there, just because you can't understand or explain it does not mean that it doesn't exist so get off of yourself and your so called intelligence.
I personally think that it takes more intelligence to simply BELIEVE.

It's more like all the people in the world who don't watch the news or read the newspaper - they don't want to know about all the bad things that are going on in the world - the world they live in is a little better and happier for it.
I was a paralegal - and I got a taste of this when I worked for a Criminal Defense Attorney. It was depressing to see all the problems that some people have. I'm glad that I'm not exposed to that anymore - and I can pretend that there aren't things like that going on (even though I know there are) because it's not in my face everyday reminding me that it goes on all the time.

As for the first part, I take it to mean that being ignorant of a specific fact in point can leave you happier than if you were aware of it. For example, thinking things with my friend were going smoothly enough until I was informed by her that she doesn't trust me nearly as much as I'd led myself to believe. While I was ignorant of that I was pretty much a happy little clam; it's quite troublesome to think about now that I know.
As to whether the saying's remotely related to relgions, I don't think so, unless you've had very strict dealings with religious people before. I certainly have never blinded my mind by being vaguely Christian- I have a firm belief in spirits and vampires (For those who wish to retort that, I can't recall ever hearing a reading where a verse said "And they were stricken for the blasphemy of believing in vampires"). Although I wouldn't argue with them if somone can give an example of how this might have stemmed from religious restrictions or something.

"Ignorance is Bliss" means that the less you know about the real world, the dangers, the hazards, the destruction, you aren't going to be miserable worrying about what to do, or what's going on - because to you, it never happened.
I believe that your theory on the relevance of that statement and religion seems like it could be true, or at least partly true. It's been a thought of mine for some time now, and I'm glad it's been brought up.
"Ignorance is bliss, but intelligence is power."

you will never see any body on the Dr. Phil Show or Oprah telling the peoplel who are wacthing saying "how much the Bible has ruined their life". Who is blinding your mind to the truth? In all reallity everything that this world wants to teach you is to leave a legacy and get all you can. You are gonna come to a point in your life where you will have to make a choice (your free will) what you want to beleive in.
We are all gonna die, and all the things you have been striving for, "knowledge, strength, riches, ect." are gone! When you are lying there gasping for your finall breath, all that your mind was open to is gone. What matters most is when you take your last breath on this side of eternity and take your first on the other side; is where you will end up. Self induced ignorance has a price. I have said what you are asking many times in my life. Until 2yrs ago when my mind was opened. The day i gave my soul to Jesus Christ. My mind that was grasping what this world was feeding me was a dry,d up peice of spounge. Now with the guidence of the Holy Spirit, I am soaking up the teachings of Christ and His will, like a corner of that spounge dipped in water. If there is no God, why does this world we live in try so hard to seperate you from Him??? Ignorance is lack of knowledge. Knowledge is the fact or state of knowing. Stupidity is lacking in intelligence. Fact: the world can't prove the bible fictitous. Fact: Jesus died on the cross for you. Fact: 2000 yrs and they are still trying to discredit it. (why is it taking so long?) Fact: Religion cant save you, a church can't save you, I can't save. Fact: the only way to get to Heavan is through Jesus. Only Jesus can save you. Life, here on earth is not easy. Just imaging how hard it will be for you, eternally seprated from God, ie: Hell! I understand what you are asking. I Pray that the Holy Spirit will lead you to all answers. I'll Pray that your eyes and your ears are opened. That the truth of Christ will penatrate you heart. If you do not have a Bible, I would love to send you one. Peace!!!

I dont know. Does Bliss mean happy? Does Ignorance equate to being stupid? Is the term "ignorance is bliss" a religious statement?
Aren't you being narrow minded, just a little bit?

Some people consider the ignorant ones the ones who do not accept the enlightenment of their Creator ~ And I personally don't think ignorance is bliss because before I asked Christ to make me new, I was a very unhappy soul.....now I find true inner peace (in my God-given knowledge)

Actually it means you are happy BECAUSE you are stupid. I'll allow you to ascribe that condition to whomever you wish. I must point out that some very learned people are advocates for currently popular religions. So, are they stupid because you and others have a different belief set? I don't know. You decide.

Well the less you learn about religions, the more you will be tolerant.
The less you know about someone else's beliefs, the more you will be able to be friends.
SO maybe you are right in the statement but do you want to be stupid.
It is better to know your enemy so you can protect yourself.
