I know that I would be honored if I got my boyfriend's mother's ring. It says that not only do you approve of her and love her but that the family loves her too. I'm not sure about etiquette but I think it's very sweet. I hope she knows just how lucky she is. Good Luck.

I think it's very admirable of you to give your late mothers ring as an engagement ring, however, thinkin on the pesimistic side, what if things don't work out? Will she be willing to give the ring back? Do you wanna take that chance? You might want to buy your girlfriend a ring of her very own and save your mothers for yourself.

Normally I would say yes but these days are different, The divorce rate is now close to 57% and 2nd marriages are likely to fail 65%. Should things not work out it may be hell getting the heirloom back. Reserve such pieces for your children when age appropriate.Give your wife to be her own engagement ring. The general rule is 3 months of your salary for its cost. Good luck and I hope this helped.

I have 3 sons, and I would roll over in my grave if they used either of my rings ( I only have 2) to give to some girl they wanted to marry. Oh no, I wouldn't if I were you. Don't you dare! Save it for your daughter when she gets married, it can be the "something blue" for the wedding. Buy her a regular CZ, when you are married for a year, replace the CZ with a diamond when she has earned it!

I think that would romantic and yes, proper etiquette. But don't start off telling ur late mother wore it. Tell her the story of the stone and when she asks where u got it tell her it's was ur mothers and say " It belonged to one special woman in my life, and now it belongs to another one." Ohh...that would be so romantic. Good luck and i hope she says yes!

If love is blind Let It Be.
Anyway, marriage is going to open all eyes with or without ring(s), which are engagement ring, wedding ring and suffer..ring.
Good Luck man!

Go for it, it obviously means a lot to you; and a unique stone would be cool. If she objects you might consider a new setting, but only if you are completely comfortable with that idea.
