Would you be willing to save someone from hell by taking their place? I ask here because I want to know if the example written in the bible is one anyone would follow - if your god was willing to take human form and suffer a horrific torture and death for you, would you follow his example and save someone else? Would you be more charitable and compassionate than the people in real life who have told me "no, they belong there and should suffer forever"?

(1) It would not be possible - because who am i any more, or any less than the next person? Christ is the ONLY one who can cancel out sins of man...because all of us are in the same predictament..."Not righteous" (sinners)...and therefor, according to law bound for hell ourselves. I'd say "Thank you JESUS" because it's only through HIM i even have a chance of escaping hell.

(2) If it were possible - Honestly, I really don't know. I don't know if I'm that good of a person. I'd like to think that for someone i love dearly i would...but I don't know if I'd sacrifice myself for "anyone"

Awesome question by the way. It really made me evaluate my own Christ-like qualities. (I came up 'short')

Great question! If hell is real, then God is real, so I am faced with a dilemma. It's not like I will be earning any brownie points...the game is over, hell is where you're going to END UP. What would cause someone to want to trade places for that? Some painful empathy and guilt, or, like the first lady said, for love of her children. Could you ever really feel good after making the call to subject someone to hell? Because that's what Heaven's about, right...feeling really good?

Its a job for God. But its an resolved puzzle and according to the da Vinci Code was a concocted story made by Constantine.

But nobody is in hell now except the disobedient angels. The dead were all still waiting for the last judgment. and nobody has reached heaven except Jesus till now.

But maybe its a test of love. yes maybe God will save the soul bound for hell if someone who love too much will trade his soul in the doomed soul's behalf. Its called divine love, to lay down ur own life to save another. After all salvation is a gift. I believe that.

In answer to your question, no i would not switch places with someone due to spend forever in hell, thruthfully i am not the selfless. But really who is the worse person; the person doomed to hell or the person who isnt bailing him out....? It isnt right of you to compare switching fates with someone doomed to hell and a god being tortured and killed, Being tortured and killed and then going to heaven for all eterntiy doesnt sound all that bad...I dont believe that anyone should suffer forever, no matter what they have done, no crime fits that punishment....

Only Christ could do such a sacrifice. No human can do it. We all belong in hell, and it is only by Christ's suffering that we are able to avoid it. We can't somehow go to hell for someone else...each person is responsible for their salvation.

I agree with this person. Your question borders on blasphemy, you need to immediately ask forgiveness.><>

For one thing, I could not save someone from Hell, I couldn't even save myself. It is Christ who saves, not man. Secondly, Christ's sacrifice was acceptable to the Father because He was the only one whose sacrifice was considered worthy for the sins of the world. He was completely sinless and did not have the sin nature that man has, therefore, He was the only one who was able to take on the punishment due us and satisfy the judgment against us sinners.

thrilling philosophical question. in my opinion, i'd make that sacrifice for no human being. all of us has an equivalent possibility at preserving their soul even as residing. I should not be held in charge for others, even those i love. yet say someone easily did settle for that deal, and his chosen presented from hell, may he land up in hell in any respect? does not the goodness and selflessness, and self-sacrifice, and holiness of the decision convince G-d to allow him enter Heaven besides. style of like "what number angles can dance on the coolest of a pin": No logical way of adjusting the question, yet thrilling to talk besides. >>>>> To intricate only a touch more suitable, there are a range of people for whom i'd sacrifice my life. There are even some motives for which i'd die. yet my eternal soul...properly, not a lot.

I probably would, except Jesus already did it. So this question is senseless. The thing is, it isn't just the really bad people who are going to hell, it is anyone who isn't saved. Yeah, you get tired of hearing that, but you ARE in the religion section.

Funny that you asked that question because I asked myself that a few days ago. My fiance' just died two weeks ago, and we were soul mates. Although it is impossible to do so, I probably would trade places with him to save his soul.
