When I did the laundry for my "family" they didn't grip about the way I did it, but there was other grips about the laundry. Such as, I expected them to at least put the dirty clothes in the wash room so when I did the laundry, the clothes would be there, I would even tell every body that wash day is tomorrow, AND made sure that every one heard me, if the clothes weren't there when I did laundry, they didn't get done. As time went on, every body started doing their own anyway.
Now that I am living with my parents so as I can take care of them, mom wants to do hers and dads laundry, and if she sees mine, she does it too, but I try to do my own. She will let me know if hers are not done right (folding not washing). We both wash the same way, whites in one and colors next and then jeans and such in the next. Yes we sort and wash by colors and dry by fabric type. But I never say a word about the way my clothes are washed or dried, if someone does them for me, I just say thank you for doing my laundry but you didn't have. I am always thankful when someone does something for me.

Okay this is going to sound dumb (maybe). My mother does my laundry. My husband and I both work midnights, so while we are gone at night, she does it for us while she is watching our daughter. When we get home in the morning, she has things folded and put in baskets (or on hangers) and then we put it away. When I first started working midnights, I told her not to bother with the laundry (cause she does her differently then I do ours). She then stated that she would rather have me tell her how I want the laundry done so that when we are awake we could spend more time with our daughter then having to worry about the laundry and cleaning the house. After that I told her okay if you want to do it, then this is how I like it done, and it works for me now. She wouldn't do it any other way because she knows I am a perfectionist and if things aren't done a certain way, I get bent out of shape.

I do my own and I will wash the linens. My son has been doing his own laundry since he was 10, at which time he started changing outfits a couple times a day. As a single mom who works full-time with a 50+ mile commute EACH WAY, I wasn't happy about it, so I told him if he's old enough to want to change clothes that often, he's old enough to know how to run the washing machine.
When my boyfriend lived with us, I would do his stuff, but like me, there are certain things he wanted washed/dried in certain ways, and God-forbid I should mess up -- so I stopped. Life's to short to hassle over that kind of nonsense. If you want stuff done a certain way, do it yourself!
And if you leave your stuff in the washer or dryer, don't expect the "laundry fairies" to show up in the middle of the night to take care of it! They are left as they are -- in a pile -- but on top of the washer, so someone else can have access to it.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I don't like doing my 20 year old daughters
laundry. Some of the things she put to get wash are cold water only, or don't go into the dryer, or needs special attention. How am I supposed to know that when she just leave them in the laundry room. I'm not a mind reader, yet she gets peeved when she goes to get something to hang up that was dried. I can only do my best. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Well, before my daughter I had a system that hubby failed. Now days, I let him do it because I like clean clothes and there are so many hours in a day. I am starting a business and my daughter keeps me busy and we live in an apt. so I hate going to the laundry room at night!
Since I had my daughter I have learned not everything is going to be the way I want...

I do my family's laundry, and if anyone complains then they get their clothes set aside. Don't ***** about clean clothes, at least they are clean.
Now...If someone were to say wash jeans with white tshirts then I'd be p!ssed..because that's just ignorant. Whites go with whites, denim with denim and so on. If your separating all colors into the fabric type there is nothing wrong with that... But I can see someone getting mad for washing whites and colors together. Makes your whites dingy.

I am proud to say that in my house if you are tall enough to reach the knobs you are old enough to do your own laundry.(even my husband) The community laundry like towels and stuff are hit and miss, if your going to get yours out of the dryer put a load of towels in or you may not have a towel to dry off with when you shower.

My family wouldn't know how to do laundry if there was a sign on the wall explaining it in detail.

I do my and my husbands laundry... he has been banned for the reason he has shrunk, stained, put dry clean only items in washer and dryer, left wet laundry and the machine... so I do it all and it comes clean, smells nice, is folded properly and put away.
