One of the very worst things for gout is beer. One of the best things for gout is cherries. Another best thing for gout is dandelion. If you have gout, which is a liver disease, you probably don't like the taste of dandelion so one must think of how can you get some down now and then. Into the juicer carrots.. You only need a little bit of dandelion juice, and can push in the leaves with the carrot.

Gout is caused by accumulation of uric acid crystals, classically described in the great toe. A genetic propensity combined with a rich diet gets you there. Gout seems to travel with diabetes and high blood pressure too.

It used to be called DISEASE OF KINGS, because of the kings would eat such rich foods, that would cause uric acid to be built up in the body.
Gout is a form of arthritis, and the pain is generally in the big toe, and very painful, you can get it in other joints as well, but for some reason a lot of people get it in their big toe.In Uric acid you have crystals so it is a combination of crystals and inflammation.

A number of risk factors are related to the development of hyperuricemia and gout:
Genetics may play a role in determining a person's risk, since up to 18% of people with gout have a family history of the disease.
Gender and age are related to the risk of developing gout; it is more common in men than in women and more common in adults than in children.
Obisity and overweight increases the risk of developing gout because there is more body mass, which leads to excess uric acid production.
Drinking too much alcohol can lead to gout because it interferes with the removal of uric acid from the body.
Eating too many foods rich in purines can cause or aggravate gout if you have aleady had gout.
Exposure to lead in the environment can cause gout.
Using the following types of medicines can lead to hyperuricemia and gout because they reduce the body's ability to remove uric acid:

Diuretics, which are taken to eliminate excess fluid from the body in conditions like hypertension, edema, and heart disease, and which decrease the amount of uric acid passed in the urine;
Salicylates, or anti-inflammatory medicines made from salicylic acid, such as aspirin;
The vitamin niacin, also called nicotinic acid;
Cyclosporine, a medicine used to suppress the body's immune system (the system that protects the body from infection and disease) and control the body's rejection of transplanted organs; and
Levodopa, a medicine used to support communication along nerve pathways in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

Gender and age are related to the risk of developing gout; it is more common in men than in women and more common in adults than in children.

Drinking too much alcohol can lead to hyperuricemia because it interferes with the removal of uric acid from the body.
Eating too many foods rich in purines can cause or aggravate gout in some people.
An enzyme defect that interferes with the way the body breaks down purines causes gout in a small number of people, many of whom have a family history of gout.
Exposure to lead in the environment can cause gout.
Some people who take certain medicines or have certain conditions are at risk for having high levels of uric acid in their body fluids.

Gout (also called gouty arthritis, Greek name: podagra, from pod - foot and agra - trap) is a form of arthritis caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in joints. It is an intensely painful disease, which in most cases affects only one joint (monoarthritis), most commonly the big toe. The term “gout” comes from the Latin word “gutta” meaning “a drop” from the belief that gout was caused by drops of morbid humors and may be related to the large lumps of urate deposits.

The cause of gout is the buildup of uric acid in a certain spot. It crystallizes mainly around joints and causes pretty severe pain. Extra uric acid in the bloodstream is due to the excessive consumption of red meat, beans and eggs.

Gout is condition that results from crystals of uric acid depositing in tissues of the body. Gout is characterized by an overload of uric acid in the body and recurring attacks of joint inflammation (arthritis). Chronic gout can lead to deposits of hard lumps of uric acid in and around the joints, decreased kidney function, and kidney stones.

Gout has the unique distinction of being one of the most frequently recorded medical illnesses throughout history. It is often related to an inherited abnormality in the body's ability to process uric acid. Uric acid is a breakdown product of purines, that are part of many foods we eat. An abnormality in handling uric acid can cause attacks of painful arthritis (gout attack), kidney stones, and blockage of the kidney filtering tubules with uric acid crystals, leading to kidney failure. On the other hand, some patients may only develop elevated blood uric acid levels (hyperuricemia) without having arthritis or kidney problems. The term "gout" commonly is used to refer to the painful arthritis attacks.
