You need to remove the fleas ASAP. They can make the kittens anemic very rapidly. Kittens don't have much blood to spare.
DO NOT use pet store flea medication. Most Hartz products and such have killed pets. The best way is to get a flea comb and some mild detergent in water. Comb out the fleas and throw them in the soapy water. It will kill the fleas. Finally treat the mother with frontline plus put the mother and kittens in new bedding ( the old will still be flea ridden) and add cedar hamster bedding. Fleas hate that smell.
If getting the fleas off is extremely difficult, bathe the kittens in warm water with baby shampoo, or a mild dish detergent. My vet recommended micodex shampoo, although the label said 12 weeks and up. If you go that route I would use very little shampoo, and then rinse. Keep the soap away from the moth, nose, and eyes. Use a towel dipped in the solution to clean around those areas. After the fleas jump into the water you can rinse the kittens in some clean water. Make sure they are very dry and warm, them put them in the new bedding.
Good luck, call a vet with any more questions.

DO NOT use pet store flea medication. Most Hartz products and other over the counter brands have killed cats. Use Frontline plus bought from the vet for the MOM .Change to kittens bedding. Kittens can use frontline at 8 weeks old. Fleas will kill new born kittens . They become anemic very quickly from the fleas feeding on there blood.use a flea comb to comb out all the fleas you can. They can be washed in a mild dish detergent and then kept warm till they are dry.Do not use any type of flea shampoo on the kittens.

We had the exact same problem with the 3 kittens that were born on my dad's farm. We found out that all you have to do to get rid of fleas (at least one way) is baby oil. If they have fleas in their ears, put a little baby oil in their ears. The oil drowns the fleas, and the baby oil is sensitive enough for the kittens. or, you can give them a bath, just fill a bucket or other container up to the kitten's neck level and let them soak. Make sure that the water is warm, but not hot. They are only kittens.

Wal-Mart has some good flea medication for only about four dollars it has a three month supply. You just squeeze the gel on the mommy cat's back of the neck and the fleas will start to die immediately. And for the kittens I know that there is no treatment you can give them until they are twelve weeks old. So I was told by my vet to get a lice comb and warm soapy water and you can literally drown the fleas while picking them out in your kitchen sink or bathtub. Good Luck

Treat Mom ASAP. Use Borax on the surrounding carpets and bedding. Lay down dry borax and vacuum back up in about an hour it will kill the larva in the carpets. As for the kittens check with your vet but probably the only way to do it is to get a flea comb and try to keep them off the kittens by hand.

I think taking them all to the vet is a good idea. I do know that you cant dust the kittens because mom is always cleaning them and it could hurt her. With the kittens still nursing and by dusting mom, the kittens may ingest the flea powder also.. Take them to a vet.

Treat Mom immediately and talk to the vet about the kittens. They are probably too young to treat. I've heard of kittens that have died from being poisoned by people giving them flea treatment like Advantage or Frontline, because they were too small.

there is not any product on the industry that newborn kittens can could kill fleas. The soonest so which you could use something on them is while they're 4 weeks previous. At 4 weeks of age, your kittens could have a pill referred to as Capstar. it relatively is an exceedingly secure pill which will kill all the fleas on your kittens. precise now, you could manage the mummy, even nonetheless. the terrific factor to do could be to grant her a capstar, and likewise positioned some Frontline on her. Frontline is the only product on the industry it is properly labled for use on pregnant and nursing cats. The Capstar will kill all the fleas, and the Frontline will ward off from now on from coming back. putting this on her will additionally help the section that she and the kittens are in. the two a sort of things are obtainable by your veterinarian. not at all ever use flea administration/prevention products from a puppy keep, feed keep, food market, or online business agency. despite in the event that they say that they have got Capstars or Frontline. in straightforward terms purchase them out of your vet, via fact the individuals who lead them to in straightforward terms sell them to vets. once you're procuring it someplace else, you're purchase a counterfeit product it is probably risky to your cats. communicate to your vet, they are able to grant you greater tips.

Take them to the vet when they're open. I don't think there is a treatment for newborn kittens, and most treatments for the mother cat would probably wear off and get into the kittens' systems, one way or another.
