I can't help but notice how the some of the same people who say things like "just let everyone do their own thing" are the first to criticize. The Philippines were once a Spanish colony. As such Catholicism was a huge influence. Salvation by works. They still try to earn their way into heaven. Also we should not assume that the people converted from a religion that was better than Catholicism. And many of the people who are not Catholic are Muslim. So even though I have strong disagreements with Catholic teachings, they have done a lot of good. I wish they would do it better.

I saw something on TV about a guy who wanted to get to know his dad, so every year he did the same thing, hoping his dad would hear about it and come looking for him. It was sick and sad.

There motives are wrong. But they live in a culture where the Catholic church controls everything. This is the fruit that the catholic church bears.
