Sometimes,
but it depends on the protest being appropriate to the issue,
focusing on 1 issue
and not ticking off people who want to support you.
when a protest shows how many people support ( or don't support) a policy, that is a useful political statement.

Two examples where it worked:
India
Mahatma Ghandi in India struggled for years on the cause of Indian independence from British rule. He spent 2 years in prison (1942-44) but was assassinated in January 1948, the year finally India gained its independence. India is the world's largest democracy.
Poland
From 1980-89, the shipworkers union in Gdansk, Poland, Solidarity, led by Lech Walesa, fought with the communist government in Poland for workers rights. In 1989, the citizens of Poland were given semi-free elections, and this led to the collapse of the communist government in that country. When the USSR saw how communism fell in Poland, they withdrew their support and troops from other Warsaw Pact countries, such as East Germany, Czechoslavakia, and others. Solidarity's unprecedented success was a huge catalyst to the end of communism in Central Europe and the USSR.
Yes, protesting accomplishes huge and important things. Don't ever give up the struggle if it is important.

It depends on how the protesting is done relative to the matter being protested and who they're protesting against. There are so many variables involved there, and as a teen of the 1960's, I've seen some successful, and a lot of stupid and unsuccessful protests. God Bless you.

Yes, With out protest nothing would be accomplished. As long as it does not get out of hand. It lets certain groups fight for there rights.

Protests do not do something except alert the final public and the authorities as to subject matters that a small or great team has problems with. interior the coolest it may reason some replace yet lots of the time it would not.

Depends on what they are protesting against. Most of it is stupid things. But things like enviromentalists and things to help the community, usually good.

No. It just pisses people off. Most people think protesters are just a bunch of whiners and losers anyway.
