Depends where. If it's under the curve of your jawbone and feels like a swollen bean, then it probably is. However, it could be one of a number of other things, including a thyroid problem - known as goitre - (easily treatable). You should always get lumps checked out by the doctor if it's been there longer than a few days. You've probably just got a cold on the way, don't worry.

You need to get this checked out by the doctor. I had a lump to the side of my neck that lasted well over 6 months before the swelling reduced, and it turned out to be a cyst in my thyroid which had filled up with blood. It needs operating on which I am still awaiting surgery. I never went to the doctor for ages because I thot it was a swollen lymph gland. So much for my self-diagnosis. The lump is still there but not as obvious but this is very common in women. See a doctor for a more detailed prognosis.

My father had a lump and never had it checked out.Probably from smoking.
My friend has a lump and GP said maybe a fat lump. I found a lump under my armpit and had the horrors! Checked out at the new local hospital ultrasound, two checks by physicians and they said it was a fat lump - so no worries until it get bigger and I may have to have it removed surgically, but not yet.

No one here can properly help you with this question, because without seeing what you're talking about even a doctor couldn't make a proper diagnosis.

If it is a lump that has appeared recently, and it's painful, it will probably need to be tested. Don't wait, go and see your GP as soon as you can so that you can get the right treatment if it's required.

It depends on where it is but if it is in the middle of your neck it might be a goitre (or however you spell it i dont know). You might want to get it checked. I had a thyroid proboblme last year and I had a bump on my neck. If you are feeling dizzy, are sweating alot, and are gaining or loosing alot of wieght it could be a thyroid problem. I would go to the doctor just in case. If it is a thyroid problem you dont want it to get to bad.

It could be an Adam's apple, lymph nodes, or a glands, depending on location. You should give more details.

If it is a swollen gland, you will feel pain and it may be probably a lymph gland. Consult your doctor. Please see the webpage for more details on Lymphadenitis and Lymphangitis.
