Leaving a engine running for economy reason only really applies to diesel engines as they need to be hot to be most efficient, leaving your gasoline engine running can dump excess fuel into the catalytic converter damaging it and besides that leaving your running unattended is asking a their to steal it at I really don't think you want to tell your insurance company or the police that you left your vehicle running unattended as the insurance company may give you a hard time about settling your stolen vehicle claim and the police may look at you like you are not too bright.

If the car doesn't sit more than 5 minutes, I'd leave it running. Shutting it off and starting it again so many times will make parts wear out or break faster.

IF you leave your car running and you are not in it.
WHEN it is stolen, you will be ticketed and have a very hard time collecting insurance to pay the bank loan now due. Enjoy walking and the bus.

If it's going to idle for more than 1 minute it is more fuel efficient to turn it off.
