Sounds like. The really ideal blood pressure reading is 120/80 .

The bottom number is a very concerning number...I would diet and start a exercise regime... this is a great start.. one step at a time... I would definitly see the doc and tell him/her of what steps they are trying to lower their blood pressure.

Weight Watchers is a great place to start too.

A blood pressure of 140/90 is considered "high." Your friend should talk to his doctor about how best to lower it -- you don't want to mess around with high blood pressure!

Here is a useful pamphlet (in PDF format) that is about how to lower your blood pressure (or prevent it from going up in the first place): http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/hbp/hbp_low/hbp_low.pdf

Your friend can use diet and exercise to help reduce his blood pressure (the pamphlet contains lots of suggestions on how to make these positive lifestyle changes) -- however, it's going to take more than a month to do so. He needs to start eating right, exercising, and losing some weight if he wants to live a long, healthy life. Make him go see a doctor about this ASAP! It's possible that a doctor may want to put him on a medication to help lower his BP, if diet and exercise don't seem to be enough to do it on their own.

I am 47 and found out I had high blood pressure when I was 17. I've been on medication for it since then. You need to see a doctor and see if medication is needed. You need to eat a LOW SALT diet and get plenty of fluids. Eat lots of veggies and fruits, stop eating red meat, and stop eating high fat foods. You also need to exercise-just start out walking if you haven't been active in the past. Just walking every day will make a big difference over time. If you are having headaches, you really, REALLY need to get to the doctor and get some help! High blood pressure will kill your organs-heart, kidney, brain etc. If your organs die, then you die. Don't put this off-take care of yourself!

i'm NOT an M.D., but based on my general reading in many areas over the years, i'd say the 108 diastolic is definitely cause for concern; and the 151 systolic is no bargain, either. probably losing weight would help. it usually does. as for the rest, i don't know. i think he should be evaluated by a doctor before he begins exercise, especially if he hasn't done any in a while. and, in an area i do have some familiarity with, it wouldn't hurt to see an acupuncturist, and/or a naturopathic physician before he starts taking any prescribed medication from a western (only) trained physician. don't mention me to the AMA, please. good luck!

Losing weight is the best way to bring his blood pressure down in a healthy way, along with exercise and limiting his salt intake. Have him take his blood pressure three times a day for a week, writing down the results every time. If it remains high, he needs to see a doctor, who will recommend some other things, such as medication. This isn't something to mess around with. He needs to see his doctor as soon as possible. He might need more tests, to check to see if there's any damage to his arteries, and other such issues. And why does he have to have his blood pressure down within a month? It might take longer, depending on his health. Again, he needs to see his doctor, so that he can safely begin to get this thing under control soon. <*)))><

Take him to the doctor. Excercise like walking. It's not out of hand just high. The doctor will give him a diet to follow. And medicine to get the blood pressure under control.

High blood pressure can only be diagnosed with repeated blood pressure measurements. The best way to tell if you have high blood pressure is to have your blood pressure measured by a health professional.

From the sounds of it he needs to get in to see a doctor about high blood pressure. a great website to visit I have typed down below it has a chart and tons of information....-good luck

Please make sure your friend goes to see his doctor. He is a stroke waiting to happen. This is unacceptably high and he should not exercise right now without his physicians permission. He needs to seriously change his eating habits, almost completely eliminating all red meat and most white meats, other than fish. He needs to increase the fruits and vegetable a lot, even so he must see the doctor. For more information on lowering your blood pressure visit the link below.

I work in heath care, your friend needs to go to the doctor but first it would be wise if he checks B/P every day for a week to take to doctor with him because this is one thing they will ask for is a history. He may need a blood pressure pill. As far as how dangerous it is very much so, he could have a stroke!!
