Put newspapers down by the door at night time but during the day, take him outside first thing in the mornings, after meals and when he looks restless or just excercised. When he pees outside, praise him and perhaps reward him with a small titbit.
Don't expect instant miracles though because puppies are just like babies when it comes to their immature bladders. They are just incapable of staying dry all through the night until they are about four months old.

Hello,
First off, this won't happen over night, so your Best bet is to crate train the Puppy for Night time, and when you are away from Home. Puppies do not like to mess up their sleeping areas. Then take him/her out as soon as you get up, or come home. Feed the last meal of the day at 6:00 p.m. take up the water at about 8:00 p.m. Then take puppy out just before bed time, and first thing when you get up. about 15 minutes after meals, and about every 2 hours throughout the day or more often.
Above all, Do not rub the Puppies nose in his Business, as this can cause him/her to get sick. Never make your puppy afraid of you by Hitting him/her. BE PATIENT, Puppies are no different then small Children. Be Gentle, you will have far better results with love and kindness, then with Cruelty.

You arent going to be able to toilet train him no matter how hard you try. Dogs will NOT go in the toilet, not EVER. You CAN teach cats to, though.
I am thinking you meant housebreaking?
You didnt mention a breed but my dog is pretty stupid and he picked it up in one day. best thing is to start them on paper. When he potties say no! Pick him up and drop him on the paper and say "Potty on the paper!!" PLEASE DONT RUB HIS NOSE IN IT!! Keep doing that until he gets it. Yoiu can then do the same thing with Potty Outside.
You can skip the paper if youw ant but it comes in handy later on..there are times when you cant take him out and the paper is a preferred place.
Remember he is eating puppy chow so thats 1 bag in and 12 bags of poop out. He needs to go potty outside a lot!
Enjoy your puppy!

If you have a secure backyard and no other dogs use it then I would suggest training it to go outside. Otherwise get a bunch of puppy pads and lay them in your puppy's favorite places to go. If you don't know them at this moment you will eventually. They ususally have a few favorite spots. If trying to train your puppy to go outside I would suggest leaving a few of its pads/poop outside so when you take it out it smells it. Also I would suggest crate training it so when your not home it won't go all over the place and if it has to go it will hold it until you take it back out. They generally do not like to sleep were they go. Also only feed it certain times a day and watch when it has to go so you know when to take it out. Otherwise have patience and remeber it can hold it in as long as its age in months plus one, and thats in hours.

u dont toilet train a puppy! u potty train it! u should buy the puppy training pads and lay them by the back door(or wherever u think is best) and train him to go there! if he/she doesnt "go" there then u have to punish him/her. DONT spank or beat...just simply tell him/her no...and when it does go on the pad then reward it w/ treats and let the dog know what he/she did was right and he/she should continue to do it!!!!

Take it outside as often as possible, especially first thing in the morning, and when it goes to the toilet outside praise it lots, make it really want to do it outside. It shouold get the idea pretty quickly.

You have to watch them all the time, and when you see them sniffing around quickly take them outside. Encourage them to go potty and wait until they are done, then give praise. Sometimes if you give praise while they are going they get excited and stop and run to you. Good luck!

you start out by placing news papers around where they go. but put them by the front door. as soon as you catch them getting ready to go, you snatch them up putting them on the paper saying you go here. in a stern voice. if the go elsewhere, you catch them, you rub their nose in it saying no and carry them to the paper saying go here. after a short time they will go on the paper and then from there you wait till you see them heading to the paper and take them outside and let them go outside and soon they know they have to go outside. i've trained my dogs that way for 40 years. make sure you do it in a stern loving voice or you will scare them to pee all over the place everytime you raise your voice just calling the kids or something. don't rub their nose in it to hard as you have to clean it up and embeeding it into carpet will take you longer to get it out.
