Yes, anyone who has studied the OT would know this. However the only rational interpretation of this passage is that “the sons of God” are angels that came down to earth, attracted by the human women. Since angels do not marry (Matthew 22:30) we know these angels (who rejected the marriage restriction) are not good angels, but bad ones—also known as demons. Now imagine what kind of person a half human/half demon would be like. Very powerful, very intelligent, and completely evil. This is what Genesis 6:4,5 describes. It is at that point that “the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.” This is not a situation where God changed His character or His plan, it is a situation where God is sorry (sad) that his beautifully created human race has been corrupted. A poor analogy would be buying a new car, and then having someone back their car into yours in a parking lot. You may regret buying the new car, not because you changed your mind, but because you are grieved by the damage.

That passage in the Bible has been much debated according to one of my Bible commentaries. It is very interesting though don't you think, with verse 4 talking about heroes and legends? Just makes the Bible stories even more awesome in my eyes.

Anyways to answer your question, yes some people interpret "sons of God" as fallen angels or demons because they say that the same phrase is used elsewhere in reference to angels. However, others say that "sons of God" and "daughters of men" all refer to the two different lines of Seth and Cain. Now if you remember, Cain had killed his brother Abel, and Seth was the next son after Abel. So you can look at it as Cain being sinful, and Seth being Godly. The two families eventually began to marry into one another bringing more evil into the world.

Genesis 4:26 says that when Seth was born, this was the time when people first started to worship the Lord. But, later on after mixing the two families, people began to lose knowledge of the Lord and abandon Him as in chapter 6, and this made God angry.

After much patience, God could not longer tolerate wickedness and disregard for his plan. He numbered the years of a human to 120 years, and then prepared to destroy all the wickedness that was in the world. Obviously this happened with the flood in chapter 7.

Conclusion? People began to abandon their creator God and relied on their own strength and heroes. God would not tolerate this and was forced to judge.

How can you apply this? Yes the Bible is full of the wrath of God but it is also full of his peace and grace. If you make an honest attempt to read the Bible you will find how patient, loving, and Beautiful our God really is. He is slow to anger.

Be careful, and Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and run to Him and His word for every problem and sorrow.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have fun in the Bible!

"Mixed marriages (Gen_6:2): The sons of God (that is, the professors of religion, who were called by the name of the Lord, and called upon that name), married the daughters of men, that is, those that were profane, and strangers to God and godliness. The posterity of Seth did not keep by themselves, as they ought to have done, both for the preservation of their own purity and in detestation of the apostasy. They intermingled themselves with the excommunicated race of Cain: They took them wives of all that they chose. But what was amiss in these marriages? (1.) They chose only by the eye: They saw that they were fair, which was all they looked at. (2.) They followed the choice which their own corrupt affections made: they took all that they chose, without advice and consideration. But, (3.) That which proved of such bad consequence to them was that they married strange wives, were unequally yoked with unbelievers, 2Co_6:14. This was forbidden to Israel, Deu_7:3, Deu_7:4. It was the unhappy occasion of Solomon's apostasy (1Ki_11:1-4), and was of bad consequence to the Jews after their return out of Babylon, Ezr_9:1, Ezr_9:2. Note, Professors of religion, in marrying both themselves and their children, should make conscience of keeping within the bounds of profession. The bad will sooner debauch the good than the good reform the bad. Those that profess themselves the children of God must not marry without his consent, which they have not if they join in affinity with his enemies."

It doesn't say angels in the text, just sons of God, which is explained above.

Well from my understanding these were not angels, as in other parts of the bible it states that we will be as the angels, neither marring or making babies. SO angels, NO

Sons of GOD, of whom Satan was also present (found in Job) not sure who this is, or how it ties into us, the bible does not go into any detail. SO< we will have to wait until all is revealed, and it will be.

Sons of God, followers of God, could allso have said daughters of God. Daughters of Men
or followers of satan easaly enough said Sons of men. As far as Angel go the term simply means messanger of God such as Noah was. Remember some have entertained angels unaware, but no angels did not have sex with humans.

Yes, and their children were nephilim, which were called "giants" and "men of renown". That's one of the reasons I've heard God created the flood, to rid the world of the nephilim. I've also heard its one of the reasons some cities had to be utterly destroyed, they were nephilim cities. The angels that married human women taught them a lot of things they weren't suppose to be teaching, weaponry, poisons, etc., so they had to be gotten rid of. They were making the world too knowledgeable, too fast, and we weren't ready for it. Read the book of Enoch, really interesting.

The particular angels were supposedly our "watchers", but became attracted to the human women they were suppose to watch.

Well, I know that humans use angles to have sex, but I hadn't heard of angles having sex with humans.

I am not sure how an angle being an inanimate object can have sex with anything.

That is not quite right. The sons of men and sons of God are the two godly lines. Sorry.
