What they do is try to determine all of the information they can on the corpse, such as sex, approximate age, race, height, etc., as well as any identifying features such as scars, tattoos, etc. Then they search their data base for any missing persons, starting in the immediate vicinity and working outward until they have a possible match. Then they get information from the missing persons family to try to match their dental records or DNA through hair from their hairbrush or possibly through the DNA of their parents or siblings. If they are fortunate they will get a match and be able to make an identification. Lots of these cases remain open for many years or are never solved at all! Especially if the corpse has been undiscovered for a great length of time!

I would think they would look through missing person records to see if the profile of the person or area the person had been found in matched anythig firstly and then check dentist records.
I would imagine there would be other clues to link the person to something, they would go all CSI on them ??

They do someone-friendly mapping of the contours & shape of the the teeth/the teeth; it has the person-friendly diagnosis which you employ for finger-printing. So in case you had dental artwork interior the previous and had the unlucky status of loss of life, then they are able to apply this against your scientific documentation to be sure (... with some actuality ...) that it could desire to be you. i'm useful that they use different analyses given dna diagnosis and all. wish that facilitates!!! Dental records are useful to confirm the identity of someone when you think you know who it is already.

If a name is suspected, a family member would have that information. This is only used when they think it might be someone known.

Maybe they just looked in their wallet or purse; or took the number from their mobile phone?
