I know that its something in shampoo, but what is it made out of? My shampoo says it has collagen and I'm wondering what exactly it is.

I learned about this in my 103 biology class. Collagen is a connective tissue that is found in animals, as well as humans. It is found in teeth, tendons and bone as well as other things. The breakdown of collagen happens with old age is what causes wrinkles. It is all very complicated to say what is in it, it's an amino acid, all natural and perfectly safe. In your shampoo it is used to create a shiny effect and make your hair more elastic or stretchy

If it's the same thing I'm thinking of, it is a natral agent in the skin that is very tough and is what helps your skin stay elastic. I think that I have heard of them extracting it for other uses.
