Why or why not? The country of Israel isn't very big, but they are very impressive when it comes to their military strenght! Is it due in part to their belief in their God? Yes or no? Why or why not?

I'm Jewish and I'd say god has no chosen people. We're all equal. They have a strong military because they have always been hated and someone is always fighting with them. Just like North Korea, every male must join the army for a minimum of 2 years in Israel. While in current times it seems Israel is being overly aggressive, really what's happening now is just a continuation of the same stuff that's been going on for 30+ years in that region.

God's people are those that follow God through His Son Jesus Christ. The Jew's were chosen to be a conduit of God's power and grace, revealed to the world. Their relationship to God in the old testament was reflective of our relationship to Christ today. The Jew's still have a special place in the future since Jesus will decend upon the Mount of Olives upon His return. The final battle will be waged in Mediggo and the Anti-christ will blaspheme God from a future temple to be errected in Israel.

Israel is the Promised land. Old Testament Jews were the chosen people. Jesus fulfilled the Old Law and combined the Old Law & New Law together. Eph. 2.13:15. Spiritual Jews through Christ is now the chosen people. They are the only ones to enter the New Spiritual Jerusalem.

ALL Christian's are spiritual Jews through Christ. This is how ALL people can be Christians and go to heaven now.

They are America's chosen people.

They are supported military by the US.
They are supported by the efforts of the US pro-israel lobby.
They are supported by US evangelicals wanting to fulfill the rapture.

The Israeli's belief in god is doe not change the situation on the ground. Just as it doesnt change the situation for the palestinians.

Its a shame.

God chose Israel FOREVER.... He said the sun, moon, and stars would have to fall BEFORE He would desert them....

Jer 31:35-36
Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, [and] the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts [is] his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, [then] the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

depends chosen for what purpose

in a sense yes... in a sense no

salvation come through the Jews to the world,
in a sense the church is chosen for eternal life

in a sense both the church and israel showcase God's glory
perhaps differently

Yes, but it's not the real estate that's important...it's the people.

Why? God decided to choose someone to reveal Himself to and it happened to be the Jews.

They've been kicked around for 4,000 years and have learned quite a few lessons about fighting as a people. It's a testament to their goodwill and humility that they have nukes...and really have had a reason to use them...but they don't.

(And to my good friend "Hope the Best-Expect the Worst" above...take credit where it's due!)

Yes. God said so in the Bible. He chose them, the most arrogant, obnoxious people on earth in order to show the world that He is a patient forgiving God. If the Jews can not test your faith-it can not be tested.

They are God's chosen people by virtue of the covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God promised three generations of Abraham that their seed would be the blessed of the earth, and His covenant people.
