I think the Coasties train at the NATTC (Naval Air Technical Training Center) in Pensacola.

I was a Navy Aviation Fire Control Tech and attended Avionics "A" School along with Aviation Electronics Techs from the Navy and Coast Guard. [Edit: And Marines too.]

I don't know if it's still that way or not. The NATTC was located in Millington Tennessee when I attended and that was long ago.

All military schools are about the same. All branches of the military have avionic technidians. Depends on what you want to do. Just know that the schools only teach you the basic understandings, then you learn most of your job working in your field. The one thing about the Coast Guard is that they have more bases around the United States so you can live close to home. The great thing about the Navy (or other branches) is that you can travel around the world and learn your job in different countries. Plus there are more advanced schools for higher ranks in the regular branches.

You haven't decided yet? Go navy, better yet, go Air Force, they have a plane or two sitting around that need work now and then.
