Gosh, we put the wallpaper border up when we painted and redid the room for 'the baby.' Well, the baby is 12 now and the room has been used by our other 2 kids. No more babies, time for a change! This time we are sticking with just repainting so its easier to change if needed :> Any help would be great!

We had to do this a few weeks ago. In your home stores or hardware stores, they have products to use. These are the three we used, all together:
wallpaper stripper (our brand was Zinsser and it was a gel-like ready-to-use blue spray that was about $4)
the scorer that was mentioned already: it is round and has 2 wheels of blades that "score" the old border, which means it creates many holes and rips
a razor blade because it will never just peel off or it would have never stayed on either!!

Then once the scorer has been used, spray with stripper (it says to wait 5 minutes or so) and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, wet THOROUGHLY with a dampened sponge (USE HOT OR WARM WATER WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF DISH DETERGENT) and keep wetting as you go until it all scrapes off easily. The razor blade we used was specifically for wallpaper removal.....I felt it was safer than my husbands blades we already had.
Unfortunately, it may be a long process. Use plenty of the hot water even if it's dripping all over the place because once it dries again, it is very difficult to remove!!
Have a garbage can handy, you will have scraps of paper all over the place.
My advice is to have a great CD to listen to and don't do it on a hot and steamy day or when tempers are likely to flare....LOL!

Hot water and vinegar. Apply to the boarder and then wait 10-15 minutes. Reapply and then use a putty knife to remove.

Warm steam iron will melt the glue underneath. Be careful. Wear gloves as it will be very hot when you pull the paper back.

It helps to score it first. They make a special tool for this. It helps the water or steam to get to the glue underneath.
